Fengqi Yaoji has had a secret crush on Kuroba from the class next door for ages, but she doesn't dare get close to him because he already has a childhood friend who seems perfect for him.

One day, she steels herself to approach him and trades concert tickets for a date with the two of them.

What she never expected was that, at the concert, the person she had a crush on would fall for the lead singer onstage.

The day seventeen-year-old Kuroba took his father's place as a phantom thief, he met someone, someone who made his heart soften despite himself.

In this bold, uninhibited world, he wanted to get close to her.

Someone is always in love with you. Some are shadows, and some are light.

This was one of my early attempts at writing, and it has quite a few flaws. After reading a long review from a reader, I realized I hadn't done a very good job capturing Kaito's charm back then, so I came up with this upcoming story.

The young, famous jewelry designer Usuno E was proud and haughty. At an exhibition showcasing the jewelry she was so proud of, a phantom thief dropped from the sky and stole everyone's attention with his dazzling magic.

Phantom Thief Kid was so bold and flamboyant that everyone there couldn't help cheering for him. Only the beautiful woman standing in the center watched him with a cool gaze. Acting on a selfish whim, he took advantage of the chaos to kiss the back of her slender, pale hand, stealing away the design she had poured her heart into.

But the beautiful older sister wasn't angry. Instead, she watched him fly away and smiled.

That look was just like the way you'd watch a child at play.

Phantom Thief Kid felt as if she had looked down on him.

One day, Kuroba Kaito saw that the family across the street, who had been living abroad for years, had moved back. A beautiful woman with long hair sat on the balcony, her gaze lowered. She turned at the sight of him. It was the jewelry designer.

At the same time, he remembered how, as a child, right after learning magic, he had gone to see the beautiful older sister who lived across the street. She had just turned down a classmate who had confessed to her, and he had excitedly used a magic trick to present her with a vivid red rose.

“Beautiful older sister, I want you to be my bride!” he had said.

The beautiful older sister raised an eyebrow, took the rose, and gently tapped it against his forehead.

“Little boy, I don't like red roses, and that trick doesn't work on me.”

A heartbroken little boy cried all the way home.

Years later, the flamboyantly dressed phantom thief pinned the haughty, beautiful older sister against the wall. His breath hot, he asked softly:

“Older sister, what kind of trick works on you?”
