Back then, Zhou Yi was in her final year of high school. Her MP3 player, which she used to listen to English lessons, secretly held Faye Wong's "Those Years Gone By." She went online on the old desktop computer at home and came across the resignation letter that had gone viral: "The world is so big. I want to see it."
That year, she still didn't understand the dullness of the adult world. Her biggest teenage worry was when she'd save up enough money to see Eason in concert.
But on Christmas Day, after evening study ended, she found an apple and a greeting card in her desk. It had only one line: Zhou Yi, Merry Christmas.
There was no signature.
But she recognized the handwriting: it belonged to Xu Yan from the class next door.
