Not Called Chen Sanmei

Chen Sanmei had been called Chen Sanmei ever since she was little.

She had two older brothers. The eldest was called Chen Jiayao, and the second eldest was called Chen Jiahui.

They didn't call her Sanmei. They called her "pockmarked" and a "burden who'd only cost them money."

Chen Sanmei started working in a factory with her parents at fifteen. Every penny she earned went toward sending her two brothers to school.

Later, her eldest brother went abroad to study, while her second brother stayed in the county town and became a teacher.

What about Chen Sanmei?

Chen Sanmei spent twenty years as a "factory girl."

Her right hand got caught in a machine, leaving her permanently disabled.

Chen Sanmei died on the very day her family bought a new house...

Her spirit drifted to the new home. She wanted to see her room and find out whether her parents had cried.

Chen Sanmei saw it.

Her room was a tiny enamel jar.

Her parents were jumping for joy, beaming with delight. "The truck driver paid us 200,000 yuan in compensation!"

For the first time, her brother called her Sanmei. "Sanmei, oh, Sanmei. You can still make money even after dying. You're truly my good little sister."

No one in this world cried for her.

When she opened her eyes again,

A slap landed across her face.

"Have you gone crazy? You want to go to school?!"

Chen Sanmei had returned to the age of fifteen.

Her parents wanted her to drop out and go work in a factory.

Chen Sanmei lifted her chin.

In this life, she didn't want to be called Chen Sanmei anymore.
