1. Pairing: Cyno. Set after the main story quests. Sethos has a one-sided crush.
2. Any out-of-character writing is my fault. Don't blame the characters.
3. Some plot points differ from the game's story because of the premise.
4. The story isn't long, probably a little over 100,000 words.
Cyno has been having a headache lately.
It's not just because of the mess left behind after the Grand Sage Azar was ousted. It's also because every day on his way to work, an unfamiliar young woman blocks his path.
Whenever he appears near the cafe, a bouquet of flowers taller than a person is placed in front of him, followed by the young woman's frank confession of love.
Doesn't she have anything else to do?
When she sees his exasperated look, the young woman blinks. "I've paid a whole week's worth of fines. Wouldn't it be a waste if I didn't do something with it?"
So the impartial General Mahamatra indulges her, calling in the Corps of Thirty to haul the flowers away again.
On the eighth day, Cyno receives a bouquet made from seven stacked fine notices.
Cyno: ...
He can't throw them away or burn them, so on his rare day off, Cyno has no choice but to take the time to unwrap them one by one and leave them for the Corps of Thirty to deal with.
Unfortunately, the General Mahamatra isn't the only one who has to go to work. Herahya, too, has somewhere to be.
After keeping this up for a week, she finally shoulders her pack and decides to take on some commissions to top up her wallet.
That one commission leads to a major incident.
Amid the deafening explosion, it becomes clear that the attack was premeditated. And the person investigating alongside her is none other than the General Mahamatra she's been thinking about constantly.
Because the incident is serious, Herahya puts her romantic thoughts aside and investigates with Cyno in earnest.
As their differing ideals clash, the principles unique to the General Mahamatra gradually become clear. After the incident is temporarily resolved, Herahya finally decides to give up.
But Herahya doesn't know that she isn't the only one whose mind has changed during their journey.
"My soul is split in two. One half goes to the mountains, the other stretches across the desert."
That was the conviction Cyno saw in Herahya's eyes.
Moved by that conviction, he decides to respond to Herahya's feelings, only to hear her say, "Did Genius Invokation TCG reject you, so now you've lost your mind?"
It's over.
Rejected, Cyno sits in a chair, holding the Guide to Winning Back Your Love, which Sethos gave him, and opens it to the first page.
