A Glimmer of Light

* Contemporary urban setting / ordinary people / mutual healing

* A gloomy heroine trapped by her family of origin x a shameless hero who retreats when she does, pursues when she retreats, and pounces when she advances

On the first day after moving into her new home, Su Yu discovers that the tenant across the hall is Lu Yuxi, the older schoolmate two grades above him. For three years, his parents had constantly held her up as “the kid next door,” and she had been the standard by which his entire high school career was judged.

When he was in his first year of high school, her name had been on the honor roll for graduating seniors. Alumni called her a heaven-sent prodigy.

She was nothing like the lifeless woman before him now, whose eyes held no light.

He secretly vowed that he would find everything she had lost and give it back to her.

Lu Yuxi thinks of herself as a loser.

Ever since graduating, she has hit one obstacle after another. She fell from great heights into the dirt and has struggled from scratch until now, yet in her mother's eyes, she is still an ungrateful wretch whose career is going nowhere and who cannot find a husband.

“It's not like I expect much from you in this life anyway. You might as well marry a decent man. If he has a temper, just put up with it. I hear he's got a house and a car, and he's five years older than you. But you're not young anymore. Once you pass this age, other people will be choosing you. Don't tell me you still think you can choose someone else?”

A loud, rough voice rang through the entire stairwell.

Then the bathroom door opened.

Bare-chested, Su Yu wore only a white towel around his waist. He lightly draped both hands over Lu Yuxi's shoulders, his beautiful, peach-blossom eyes tilting up slightly.

“Yuxi, who is she?”

*That faint light that once illuminated me can never be replaced.

Reader's Guide:

1. One true pairing, happy ending. The heroine is gloomy and frustrated early on. If that's not for you, please don't read!

2. Grounded in reality: two ordinary people with no powerful connections.

3. Updates are irregular. It's a short story, around 100,000 characters, and it will definitely be completed.
