The Paradox of Innocence

Xie Xun was forced to drop out of school at fourteen. She worked in an electronics factory tightening screws, carried plates at restaurants, and counted the odd tips in her wallet to make it to adulthood.

Since earning her license to practice law, as long as the money came pouring in like pages of a lawsuit, she never minded finding loopholes to get wealthy suspects off the hook.

Murder cases, major cases, bizarre cases: in her hands, verdicts that seemed set in stone were overturned and won in ways no one could have imagined.

Public opinion looked down on her, the masses cursed her, and the media competed to vilify her.

Now, she had made it big and was known as a blight on the legal profession.

She was notorious outside the courtroom, and had never lost a case.

• Villainous ambulance-chasing lawyer × saintly prosecutor. They remain mortal enemies, and that's about all I remember.

• Crime / criminal investigation / mystery / episodic stories (probably)

Content warnings:

1. An imaginary setting inspired by the Anglo-American legal system. A fantastical, wish-fulfillment story with little relation to real law.

2. The female lead is a scumbag in every sense of the word.
