How Did Going Home to Farm Lead Me to a Crime Scene?

Zhao Xicheng had spent years struggling to get by in the big city, trapped by the demands of everyday life.

One day, she happened upon an online notice recruiting villagers.

The place was nestled between mountains and water, with fields and houses, and had even been designated for key development.

The pressure at work made Zhao Xicheng, who always played by the rules, feel the urge to quit for the first time in her life.

After several bumpy hours on the road, her legs had gone numb by the time she stood at the village entrance. Only then did she suddenly come to her senses.

Was it too late to change her mind?

Luckily, everyone in the village was talented, good-looking, and pleasant to talk to.

Zhao Xicheng found herself living a happy, retired life ahead of schedule, and decided that living here might not be so bad.

She could cook, farm, and make new friends.

The only downside was that strange sounds always came from the courtyard late at night.

One night, the sounds were unusually close.

Unable to hold back her curiosity, she stood in front of the peephole.

There are two things that can make your heart race in the middle of the night.

One is someone you like standing outside your door.

The other is someone killing another person outside your door, then knocking once they're done.

Unfortunately, Zhao Xicheng thought it was the first, but it turned out to be the second.
