The Comic Boss Character Makeover Plan

The popular shonen manga Inside and Outside received a dismal rating and an especially negative, heated response from readers after its villainous BOSS was forcibly redeemed and the ending relied on a deus ex machina.

The manga world that had painstakingly come into being was affected as a result and nearly destroyed.

Fang Qi'an and System 23 were entrusted with a mission in their hour of need: return to the beginning and fix the plot.

Fang Qi'an: ...I see.

Fang Qi'an: So, basically, I just need to flesh out the villain's character.

Inside and Outside is currently the hottest urban fantasy shonen manga around.

Its complex worldbuilding, richly developed protagonist group, and repeated conflicts had once propelled it to the top of the manga platform's rankings.

That was until the appearance of one man...

He is the guardian of the dawn, the arbiter of the night.

He is everywhere, yet nowhere to be found.

The villains regard him as their mentor, while the protagonist sees him as his nemesis. Manga readers are bewitched, rolling all over the floor, and fanworks blossom everywhere. The manga stays at the top of the platform's rankings as a result.

Yet many readers still wonder whether the manga will end badly, until the finale...

Memories and the final battle unfold in turns.

The causes of everything and all that happened are laid bare on the page.

"I wield the edge that will rebel against the world, seeking only to dispel the shadows of the old world," he says.

"My life's wish is to renew the world, even if it costs me my life."

Manga forum:

"You old rascal, so you can draw after all!"

"What an amazing character, what an amazing plot, sob sob sob."

"Nobody held anyone back. Everyone wanted to make the world better, yet conflict still happened, ahhh! I'm sobbing!"

"Begging you, old rascal, write a protagonist using the BOSS's character design."

"Amazing! It's been ages since I enjoyed a story this much!"

Fang Qi'an: Yes! All done!

System (screaming): How is that a yes?! I told you to be the BOSS, not to steal the spotlight!

Theme: Youth and friendship must never be let down
