My mind is totally blank right now. If I get any inspiration later, I’ll tuck it into the bonus chapters.] The end of the universe is taking the civil service exam. Li Wei took the civil service exam and became a cleaner. A degree from a prestigious university, a PhD, and a monthly salary of three thousand. With a law degree, the only connection he has to criminals after starting the job is cleaning up crime scenes. His duties include, but are not limited to, removing the odors, stains, and fingerprints left behind by killers and victims, disposing of hazardous materials, and restoring the scene to normal... He is a genuine, no-frills, bona fide cleaner. Years later, his former classmates list programming, modeling, and machine-learning algorithms among their skills on their resumes. Li Wei writes that he can expertly select professional cleaning products to clean up blood, knows how to dispose of hazardous waste, is familiar with the laws and regulations of different regions, has strong nerves, and respects client confidentiality. The male lead, who happens to see Li Wei’s resume while selecting suitable candidates to explore the Otherworld for the country: ... “He’s the one.” He makes the decision without hesitation, then adds critically, “But he used a beauty filter on his ID photo, right? Can a real person actually be this handsome?” Li Wei: Yes, I really am this handsome. Unfortunately, looks don’t matter in a cleaner’s job. After years on the job, his monthly salary is still exactly the same. ** At some point, strange phenomena officially designated as “Otherworlds” began appearing throughout the Federation. Ordinary people were forced to face all kinds of terrifying monsters. Evil-doers were poised to make their move, while crime and death rates rose exponentially. The police were powerless to stop it. The federal government secretly recruited capable people willing to brave the unknown. But rumor had it that, in the end, they only found one person. One day, just as the ordinary people trapped in the Otherworld were giving in to despair, a man appeared inside the instance, carrying a toolbox of cleaning supplies in his left hand and a bottle of disinfectant in his right. He clearly wasn’t a player or a boss. There was no fear in his eyes, only work. He had come here for one reason: to clean. While everyone else fights monsters, he collects the bodies. While they piece together clues, he mops the floor. Once they clear the instance, they look back and find that the blood-soaked house has been restored to pristine condition! But you’d better not get in his way. Otherwise... The man sets down his cleaning toolbox, takes off his gloves, and expressionlessly assembles the parts inside it into an M4 carbine. ...You’ll end up like the monster corpse in that sack. A few things to know before reading: 1. Low-magic, unconventional infinite-loop story. The real world and the instances have a 1:1 ratio. The setting is a fictional Western country, with the feel of a Hollywood popcorn flick. One magazine is all it takes to mow down the instance. It’s all about the thrills, so don’t connect it to real life. 2. A power couple: a high-ranking government official x a cleaner who seems to have his suit welded on (read “cleaner” as “freelance agent”). A classic pairing where they work hard without getting tired. Both are good people. 3. Plot-focused, with plenty of romance too. No secondary couple. The bottom is a handsome, well-built French sweetheart over 180 cm tall. Gay men who want to pursue him could circle the globe. He’s well-versed in theory and not innocent at all.
