Conquering the Pillar of the Righteous Path

Fifty thousand years ago, the Demon Lord Kong Fan's cultivation was exhausted, and he died of old age.

Fifty thousand years later, Kong Fan's spirit awakened in a corpse that had only recently died. Along the way, he also got bound to a little spirit pet that called itself the Heavenly Dao System.

Spirit Pet: Want to repair your soul? Want to get your body back? Want to truly come back to life? If so, take a look at this mission panel: Win over that pillar of the righteous path!

Kong Fan looked at the translucent screen only he could see, then at the direction indicated by the arrow beneath it.

A tall figure stood there in silence, with snow-white hair and serene features. His whole bearing radiated the upright air of someone raised to cultivate the righteous path.

What a coincidence. He looked exactly like Kong Fan's old nemesis.

Kong Fan lay back down, pulled the burial shroud over himself, and shut his eyes.

Being alive would be fine, but being dead is pretty nice.

Leng Qingshi came from the Daoist sect, a place of quietude and nonaction, yet his way of doing things was much like that of a Confucian. He was steady and composed, purposeful in his actions, and usually generous toward others. He never killed without cause.

His friends and family praised him as a sage and gentleman. Chance acquaintances admired his talent and wisdom. Even his enemies respected his principles and methods. Wherever he went, everyone sang his praises.

Kong Fan: You'd better be talking about the same person I'm supposed to win over!

Leng Qingshi sat at the bow of the boat, setting out a chessboard and tea as he smiled gently at him.

"A game tonight, same terms as before."

"I want to see you wear these fox ears."

"...You're a pervert."

Top, a demon lord who's technically alive but mostly dead x his reincarnated nemesis, who's an XP weirdo. A romance story with no grand plot or elaborate worldbuilding. It won't be too long, and I'll try to finish it this year.

Theme: Make the most of every day.
