A Slow, Lifeless River

[I Have More Chapters Saved Than the Author, Updates Depend on Fate]

He Youyi has been dreaming a lot lately. In her dreams, a pair of eyes stares fixedly at her.

She knows Zhou Yu is waiting for her.

The Second High School has been in a state of panic lately. Not long ago, a senior student jumped from a building. The official story was that she was under too much academic pressure, but rumors flew among the students. Some said she had gotten pregnant and miscarried before the college entrance exams, and jumped because her parents found out and pressured her. Others said her boyfriend had betrayed her, and her grades had fallen on a monthly exam, so she couldn't take it and jumped...

In Class 23 of the first year, He Youyi was staring into space when her deskmate nudged her arm.

"You knew her, didn't you? How did she die?"

Under everyone's gaze, He Youyi turned pale and trembled.

"I don't know..."

"Ugh..." The class was annoyed that He Youyi couldn't give them any inside information. They pursed their lips and turned back to chatting excitedly.

He Youyi went to visit the grave with her parents, who grumbled the whole way. Her mother kept complaining that even after Zhou Yu died, she still couldn't get any peace, and so on.

He Youyi was lost in thought. Just yesterday, her parents had been excitedly discussing how to spend the million yuan in compensation they had received. Today, they had already changed their tune.

Her father suddenly turned and warned her, "Don't follow your sister's example. She's dead, and that's that. You can't go and die too."

He Youyi obediently answered, "Okay."

He Youyi had always felt that a slow, lifeless river flowed through her heart. Then one day, she became a tiny raindrop and joined it.
