Pei Shu has been dead for ten years. But perhaps because she was too unruly and promiscuous when she was alive, she has not had the good fortune to be reincarnated. She can only wander around alone as a ghost.

On a night of torrential rain, an inexplicable red thread binds Pei Shu's wrist and pins her in place, leaving her unable to move or get away. No matter what she does, she cannot cut the thread.
After struggling for a long time, Pei Shu finally gives up in frustration and sits down, deciding to see what this red thread is all about.
Three hours later, she looks up and meets the gaze of Fu Zheyan, standing over her with an umbrella.
His expression is cold, his pale face blank, and his dark eyes are full of indifference and gloom. As a bolt of lightning flashes through the downpour, Fu Zheyan's face looks almost inhuman, like a demon from hell. He looks more like a ghost than Pei Shu, who is actually one.
Pei Shu stares at him in shock, her fingers trembling. "Fu Zheyan, what happened to you? You look like a ghost!"
Her movement tugs at the red thread around her wrist.
Fu Zheyan's wrist moves along with hers.
He has a red thread around his wrist too, and it is connected to Pei Shu's. But unlike her unharmed wrist, blood is running from Fu Zheyan's, droplets falling one by one.
He smiles.
"I've found you, Pei Shu."

Fu Zheyan, the current head of his corporation, seized power with ruthless efficiency. He acts mercilessly, playing rivals against each other. Rumor has it that, as the true young master who was lost for eighteen years, he forced his father to kill his younger brother and turned his back on his own family. He is known throughout the Tannan business world as the jade-faced King of Hell.
But recently, he has become obsessed with the Five Elements and the Eight Trigrams, ghosts and gods, and immortality. A pretty young student has also appeared at his side.
Jiang Wen, Fu Zheyan's friend, is almost frightened out of his wits the first time he sees Pei Shu.
"Pei Shu, what are you doing here?!"
