The Sparrow Takes Flight

Rental-apartment romance / Mutual healing / Rekindled love

1.

Jiang Enshu runs away from home again, but an unexpected downpour leaves her with nowhere to go. She can only crouch inside a 24-hour convenience store, hoping to wait out the rain before heading out to wander.

People come and go through the store. Suddenly, a gaze falls on her in the corner.

"Jiang Enshu?"

She looks up and sees a boy in a red-and-white school uniform, holding a bottle of mineral water and quietly watching her.

-- Zhou Nongjue.

Her former... childhood friend.

2.

Zhou Nongjue takes Jiang Enshu home.

Calling it a home is a stretch. It's really just a rental apartment.

But for the past two years, Jiang Enshu has truly felt that it was home.

At least there were no arguments or insults, and Zhou Nongjue was there.

3.

Jiang Enshu leaves without a word, leaving behind only one sentence.

"I'm sorry. I have to go find my future."

Zhou Nongjue resents her year after year.

When they meet again, Jiang Enshu has become a superstar who shines on camera, while he's just a nobody from the eighteenth tier.

"Zhou Nongjue."

He looks up abruptly. Jiang Enshu smiles. "This is your first time filming a variety show, right? Don't be nervous."

Zhou Nongjue shakes his head.

This isn't his first time filming one.

During the filming of the first variety show after his debut, Jiang Enshu was fawned over by everyone. He could only watch her silently, just as he had many years ago.

At last, he speaks, his voice distant. "Yes. I'm glad to have the chance to work with you, Ms. Jiang."
