I Really Don't Want to Play Tennis

Blurb:

In his previous life, Jichibu Kiyoshi was an astronomy enthusiast, but that was all it ever amounted to. After all, astronomy is an expensive pursuit.

Then one day, he opens his eyes and finds himself the eldest son of the Jichibu conglomerate.

Could there be any better luck?

With his family's support, he can finally fulfill the dream he never achieved in his previous life: becoming an astronomer.

Everything is going in the best possible direction.

But no matter how carefully Jichibu Kiyoshi plans, he still fails to account for the terrifying creature known as a childhood friend.

On the first day of school, his childhood friend takes on the Makino Fuji Middle School tennis club single-handedly and boldly declares, "I will lead Makino Fuji into a new era!"

Just like that, Jichibu Kiyoshi finds himself effortlessly saddled with the title of vice captain of the Makino Fuji Middle School tennis club.

Jichibu Kiyoshi: Damn it, I don't even want this title!

Who knew that the prestigious-sounding title of vice captain meant doing all the dirty, exhausting work of cleaning up after the captain?

But what can he do when the captain is his childhood friend?

Jichibu Kiyoshi puts up with it, but after that, he rarely has time to haul his equipment around anymore.

Perhaps his dream will be put on hold once again.

Things take a turn during a practice match when Jichibu Kiyoshi, having given up, feeds easy balls to his childhood friend.

It all begins with that little bright yellow ball.

"I will show the world the vast sea of stars I see, in my own unconventional way."

Reader's Guide:

1. Lots of liberties taken, bugs everywhere, out-of-character portrayals, and elementary-school-level writing. If that's not for you, please don't read.

2. I may revise the story from time to time.

3. I'll add more if I think of anything.

Theme: This is a youth we will never regret.
