So, here's the thing: I got bound to a mysterious System.
It told me that in the future, my guardian and I would be screwed over and killed by employees of the shady company we work for now. So I resolutely decided to start working for the System immediately, earn enough points, and run away with him.
But how would I support myself and my guardian after that?
After all, the only thing either of us knows how to do is work in the underworld...
I slapped my clever head, and a brilliant idea struck me.
They say if you don't have the right conditions, you make them out of what you do have.
So first, I'd find a way to rob the robbers!
I heard that the Port Mafia boss in neighboring Yokohama had fallen seriously ill and was bedridden. So my plan was to infiltrate the organization, build connections, gradually gain influence, replace the old boss, become the new boss, and then make the underworld legitimate!
Finally, I'd get my guardian to switch jobs and join me. That way, we'd both have a wonderful future!
But I never imagined that my guardian had thought of the same thing before me. He'd already partnered with the successor he'd chosen. Meanwhile, without knowing anything about it, I kept rising through the ranks and became the youngest executive in the Port Mafia without even trying.
One day, when I decided the time was right and invited him to join me, he twirled his cigarette, narrowed his eyes, and asked, "Who do you think made it so easy for you to get all this?"
Only then did I piece together the truth from all those clues I'd overlooked before.
I got so excited that I clung to his leg, crying with tears in my eyes. "Thank you for taking me under your wing, boss! I'm so glad I can follow you for the rest of my life!"

The day the Black Organization fell, the only one left by Gin's side was a child the Boss had raised and then tossed to him after his fellow organization members had died.
The child was an idiot, quite literally.
He taught her to shoot, but she always missed the target.
He taught her to drive, but she drove slower than a tortoise.
He taught her hand-to-hand combat, but after ten minutes she'd be sprawled on the ground, yelling that this hurt and that hurt, and that she quit.
If she hadn't inherited her parents' talent for network technology and gathering intelligence, and if she hadn't seemed to pour all her dependence on and love for her parents into him, trusting him completely and obediently doing whatever he asked, Gin would have filed a request with the Boss long ago to have someone else look after her.
He had already arranged a way out for her.
But at the very last moment, the idiot was clever enough to see through everything. She rushed to his side and chose to stand with him as they faced death together.
In the pouring rain, covered in blood, she clung tightly to him and sobbed until she could barely breathe. "In this life, and the next... don't ever leave me. I can't live even one day without you."

Heaven always looks after fools.
And it really did give her another life.
But she was still as foolish as ever, determined to get him out of the "fire pit" and give him a "good life."
The Boss was still the Boss without him, but as that fool had said, she might not be able to survive even one day without him by her side.
With a plan full of holes like hers, there was no way she'd save him from the "fire pit."
Fools should live the way fools do: follow the path he's laid out, take things one step at a time, and live one day at a time.
So when the plan reached its final step, the fool came to him, brimming with pride and looking for praise. She claimed she'd arranged everything and was just waiting for him to switch jobs. Gin lowered his eyes and replied, expressionless, "Mm."
Tips:
1. This story contains many personal headcanons. The main story is in third person, the timeline has been changed significantly, and the characters may be very out of character.
2. Please explain anything that doesn't make sense with "Conan logic" and "supernatural abilities." Don't compare it to reality.
3. Gin is reborn. The heroine has no memories of her previous life and never will.
4. This is a self-indulgent story written for my own enjoyment. If anything makes you uncomfortable, please stop reading and minimize your losses. No writing advice, please.
5. The international rule: don't mention my story in someone else's comments, and don't mention someone else's story in mine.
6. The main story will probably have no pairing. If there is one, it'll depend on who manages to grab the pen first, although the blurb already gives off overwhelming love-interest vibes from the guardian.
