The Dangerous Profession of a Case-Closed Investigator!

[The main story is complete, and I'm working hard on the extras! See my profile for upcoming stories ☆] * When creating her character sheet, legendary investigator Taogawa chose random and left everything to fate. [...So 40 Dexterity and 90 Appearance are your destiny?] the KP asked cautiously. "What about the other 40?" Taogawa said, touched. "A super-charismatic hottie with a limp. Perfect." The KP, who knew the story, looked at the name of a certain curly-haired police officer in the first section of the sheet, then at the curly-haired officer who was still alive in this world, and fell into deep thought. Does Matsuda know you're spreading these rumors about him? * Maybe he didn't know at first, but he found out later. After all, Taogawa was determined to clear the scenario. And so the people from the real world, who were also inside the scenario, saw the following: Facing the scenario's boss, who was about to start a battle, [Matsuda], after a critical success on his Dexterity roll, spun around at an incredible speed and dodged the attack with his glowing prosthetic leg. "That startled me." The curly-haired investigator calmly adjusted his sunglasses. "Turns out it was nothing. Even a cripple can dodge that." Beside him, Furuya, who had fallen over after failing his Dexterity roll: ...Is this guy taking a shot at me? Facing a scenario NPC who needed to be deceived, [Furuya], after a fumble on his Fast Talk roll, gave a cold laugh and pulled out a custom-made pistol. "No other choice." The short investigator, with a build of 35, smoothly loaded the gun and pressed its muzzle to the NPC's waist, smiling. "Believe me, or die. Take your pick." Beside him, Edogawa stared in shock: Where did this mini Bourbon come from?! Hearing whispers carried in on the sea breeze, [Kudo], after a critical success on his Spot Hidden roll, went mad on the spot and gave everyone a demonstration of the art of living with mental illness. "Ran? What a coincidence. You're here too." The black-haired investigator, who had only just come of age, smiled and greeted her. "Want to head over there together?" The phantom thief, who had just been passing by before getting dragged over, met his eyes and sucked in a breath. You call me Ran? And so on. The locals were dumbfounded. Even with the truth right in front of them, they still didn't want to admit these people were versions of themselves from a parallel world. In response, Taogawa asked the KP the kindest question imaginable: "Are your dice coins?" It's either a critical success or a fumble. Are you messing with me? * Some time later, Taogawa, whose career as an investigator was flourishing, spoke casually about her experiences from long ago. "Becoming a legendary investigator is easy. I was only sacrificed to a cult an average of three times a week, thwarted two doomsday schemes, and nearly got sexually assaulted once..." "...How are you still alive?" "Right? How am I still alive? (*^▽^*)" * Reader's guide: 1. This mostly follows the COC 7th Edition rules, but sometimes, depending on how lazy the author feels and how the plot goes, we use house rules. The priority is for the investigators to have fun and for everyone to enjoy reading. 2. This is nontraditional cosmic horror, and the scenarios serve the plot. All scenarios are original. 3. Aside from key plot points, most dice results are up to the dice maiden. No loaded rolls. 4. Please don't believe the first point XD "So I Heard You're a Villain?" [Main story told in third person] 1. You used to be an unremarkable, minor Gotham villain. You'd worked as a henchman for almost every supervillain and had plenty of criminal experience. Then, on an equally unremarkable day, you transmigrated. ...But something about the place you'd transmigrated to seemed off. 2. In a restaurant, you see a worried-looking woman using her backpack as a shield while pouring a lethal drug into her companion's cup. You choose to: "Use this instead. Blowing this place up is safer." Without missing a beat, you slip a bomb you'd found into her hand and switch out the cup of water. As you imagine it, she should now flash an evil grin and laugh as she throws the bomb into the crowd... Perplexed, you stare at her through the crowd, nearly getting arrested by the police who arrive on the scene. Huh? Why did she call the police? 3. At the mall, a vicious-looking man holds you at knifepoint as a hostage, shouting that he's planted a bomb at the entrance to the police headquarters. You choose to: "Nobody should be passing by there right now. If you want to blow something up, blow this place up instead." You share your criminal know-how without holding anything back, and, having learned your lesson last time, you slip him only a detonator. As you imagine it, he should take the detonator, blow up this place to taunt the police, and maybe even leave a cold-blooded one-liner... Confused, you look at him through the crowd of police and reporters, who are interviewing you because this time the officers actually caught you at the scene. Huh? Why did he get scared and start crying? 4. The criminals in this city don't seem very bright. Why do they always have so many reasons and excuses whenever they're caught committing a crime? Don't you have quotas to meet? 5. At long last, your efforts pay off. You've finally joined a criminal organization that looks reliable. A life of lying flat is just around the corner! On your first day at work, the organization's top assassin points at the computer screen and says icily, "This is the list of people who died from the APTX series of poisons." You scroll through the screen and offer, "The organization sure is patient." "Then what about yesterday?" 6. The top assassin gives you a look that says you're the one with a problem. You're even more confused. "Huh? After making poison, you didn't distribute it on a massive scale and test it on the whole city?" 7. And just like that, on your first day in the organization, you became a member with a codename. 8. ...This place doesn't seem to have much of a future either. When is Batman coming to get you and take you back to Gotham? You're practically the uncrowned king of Japan's underworld now!! Theme: Humanity is small, yet dares to face every unknown terror.
