The Necromancer Says He Can't Refuse

(Looks down, fidgeting with fingers.) - "You evil dragon! You won't even spare the little kitty! I'm here to save you!" "Mom, don't save me dinner tonight, because I'm going to join the hero and defeat you." - A little undead creature was waiting at home for his parent to return from hunting and feed him. Just as he was getting hungry enough to meow, a certain hero burst through the door. The moment their eyes met Hero: "Guys, I found a cat! He wants to come home with me!!" Sari was scared and hungry. He'd been kidnapped and bought in place of someone else, but didn't dare make a peep. He shrank miserably in the hero's arms, only to hear the hero say the next moment that he was going to fight an evil dragon. Was he going to fight his mommy? The little skeleton instantly perked up. He had to stop this! He thought furiously as he kneaded the air with his paws. - Because of the hero's sudden arrival, Sari was forced to set off on an adventurer's journey. What he expected: facing off against the hero every day, testing and trying to assassinate each other; a perilous journey, full of bandits. So the wary little skeleton clung tightly to the hero's clothes, ready to switch into spiny-back dinosaur form at any moment. But the gruff guards in the human city smiled at him kindly, and the innkeeper brought him delicious goat's milk. The hero rubbed his cheeks and praised him for being a good kitty. The beastfolk, who supposedly couldn't stand humans, suddenly turned their rough voices into coos when they saw him, and their tails curled around his palms. The aloof elves killed the humans who had offended him, then turned around and gave him precious gems. They asked him to marry them at their very first meeting. Even the king, who had been hostile from the start, also... - Dragons circled overhead, scattering flower petals. Sari was given a flower crown, while Wolf cleared the way before him. The townspeople all around tossed stardust his way, their cheers and joyful shouts ringing through the royal city alongside his name. His dearest mommy fastened a star-adorned epaulet to his shoulder. He held a staff given to him by the elves, wore a medal bestowed by His Majesty, and stood beside a concerned hero with a steaming meal in hand. Th-this... Was this right? Sari fell into deep thought. Wasn't he supposed to be a little skeleton, a genius of the dark arts? How had he become a great hero?! Reading notes: 1. A short story. 2. Many people will like Sari, and the affection directed at the receiving lead far outweighs that directed at the attacking lead. Sari is the only main character. This is firmly a doting-everyone-loves-him fantasy. 4. Overall, it's a lighthearted adventure with a happy ending.
