You Gui has the best little brother in the world.
You Gui has the best big brother in the world.
The two brothers have never been apart since birth.
You Gui learned to play volleyball, and so did You Gui.
One said, "I want to be the greatest outside hitter ever." The other said, "Then I'll be the setter who sets for the greatest outside hitter ever."
The older brother, You Gui, doesn't consider himself very smart, but he's reasonably athletic. If he isn't tall enough, he'll work hard to jump higher; if his technique isn't polished enough, he'll train his fingers.
Training every day is exhausting, but with Gui by his side, even the tedious, grueling practice becomes fun~
The younger brother, You Gui, is very bright. Though he wasn't as good at sports as his brother at first, he has extraordinary self-discipline and follow-through, and strictly completes every training session according to the plan he's made.
Smart, disciplined, and able to coordinate his teammates effectively, he gradually earned the nickname "The Strategist."
During middle school, people in volleyball circles began to say that the You brothers would become the second pair of famous twins in the volleyball world, after the Miya twins.
And yet.
Even as the brothers worked together with incredible coordination,
no one knew that You Gui was both delighted by his younger brother's growing success and afraid that, unable to keep up with him, he would be left behind and forced to watch his brother's retreating figure grow ever more distant.
No one knew that You Gui both wanted his big brother to be the brightest star on the court and feared that his brother would let go of his hand, leaving him to walk alone down every road ahead.
They were afraid of being abandoned by each other.
"I wish there were only one of me," You Gui said.
Then there wouldn't be a useless big brother who only held him back. Gui could have all the love, instead of having it forcibly split in two.
"I wish there were only one of me," You Gui said.
Then all their parents' love and all their classmates' attention would go to Gui. He was a thief who should never have existed.
They said, "He was supposed to be the happiest child in the world."
They said, "I'm the one who doesn't belong."
And yet.
They were the people in the world who trusted each other most.
They would always think of each other.
They also said, "Nothing but death can separate us."

Three-year-old You Gui: "Give me your hand."
Thirteen-year-old You Gui: "Give me the ball."
Twenty-three-year-old You Gui: "Give me your attention."
Three-year-old You Gui: "Okay."
Thirteen-year-old You Gui: "Of course."
Twenty-three-year-old You Gui: "My eyes will follow you forever."
* Gui is an alternate form of Gui.
* You Gui's personality follows the first personality in the original Forgetful Battery, while You Gui, the Strategist, follows the second personality, with a few changes since he has essentially become an independent individual.
* Other than the You brothers, this story does not feature any other characters from Forgetful Battery.
* Baby Gui is an incredibly cute custard bun, while the Strategist is a brainy command tower. They're both good boys!
* Over 90% of the time, "dummy" is an affectionate term in this story! It's a term of endearment! (Only the You brothers use it.)
* Baby Gui and the Strategist attend Nudosho in middle school and Inarizaki in high school. (Inarizaki has three identical voices now, hahaha.)
* A little angst, with a sweet-and-sour flavor. (The everyday scenes are sweet and cozy! Why else would they go to Inarizaki? It's all so Baby Gui can fully show off his comedic talent!)
* P.S. This is not incest! This is not incest! This is not incest! (shouting)

Theme: The road to growing up is always a jumble of different flavors.
