Su Zhuqing, a great detective of her generation, died in a ridiculous accident while chasing a criminal: she tripped and fell to her death.
The good news: You can earn enough for a ticket back to the world of the living by making movies. We'll even throw in a System golden finger starter pack, dear!
Su Zhuqing was skeptical. Since when did the heavens hand out free lunches? So she pressed for the bad news.
The bad news: The System is crippled.
It's called movie-making, but the actors know nothing, the script has to be figured out on the fly, and even the genre is listed as “indescribable”!
Fine, she'll make the movie. What else can she do?
Only after Su Zhuqing slaughtered an entire film crew's worth of demons and monsters and made a dazzling exit from the movie did she learn she'd been making a political-intrigue romance.
Su Zhuqing: ...It's fine. An action movie sounds pretty good, too. I'll keep that in mind next time.
So in the next movie, she grabbed the Ghost King and slammed him against the wall. “I like you. Date me.”
After she came out, the System told her in a trembling voice, “Sis, this time we're really making a horror movie...”
Su Zhuqing: ...You bastard.
Whatever. Now that I'm dead, can't I have some fun? I'll make whatever kind of movie I want!
And so, through Su Zhuqing's tireless efforts, she made one bizarre genre mash-up after another, like a salad of tomatoes and Voldemort.
A lighthearted school romance turned into a murder-mystery investigation. A serial-killer crime film became a slapstick free-for-all. An apocalyptic road movie was remade as a food documentary...
Su Zhuqing thought nobody would like this weird stuff. To her surprise, the audience all said: “We love it! More, sis, please!”
Even a certain powerful figure behind the scenes chased her all the way into the spotlight, clinging to her and refusing to let go...
Su Zhuqing: Messing things up, I mean, making movies, is a piece of cake!
Theme: Stay optimistic and keep striving
