A recovery project QAQ. Updates before midnight, and before signing, updates follow the rankings.
Jiang Huai had always been a firm materialist, until his class held a graduation trip at a vacation resort.
By day, the resort was crowded and bustling. But at midnight, the peaceful facade shattered. Everywhere, monsters ripped off their human skin, revealing bodies covered in eerie fish scales, with mouths and eyes sprouting all over them.
After witnessing a monster's transformation firsthand, Jiang Huai felt like he was practically dead.
Because he discovered that he seemed to have a mysterious attraction for monsters. Either he would turn a corner and run into one, or it would lunge right at him. No matter what he did, he couldn't shake them.
Just as he thought he was about to be devoured, a little fluffball suddenly opened its enormous abyssal maw and swallowed the monster whole.
Jiang Huai: "..."
It looks familiar. I'm not sure. Better take another look.
The little fluffball returned to normal. It was adorable, all black with long fur that rippled as if blown by a wind that wasn't there. It looked incredibly soft and pettable, but...
Help! The plush keychain I picked up by the roadside came to life!!!
Afterward, Jiang Huai learned the truth about the world.
It turned out that, long ago, several meteorites fell from the sky, enveloped in mysterious radiance. Shockingly, every species exposed to that radiance could mutate. Before humans could study them, the meteorites mysteriously disappeared, but the number of mutated monsters never decreased.
So the Anomaly Affairs Processing Center was established. Over time, people discovered that after hunting those monsters, they could awaken abilities by fusing their cores with themselves.
But everyone knew that anomalies couldn't be contracted.
Jiang Huai slowly lowered his gaze to the fluffball keychain, which was apparently an anomaly and which he had already contracted.
"..."
Huh? This seems a tiny bit unreasonable.
Jiang Huai landed a government job, but because he was so unusual, the authorities assigned him a teammate, supposedly for his protection, but really to keep an eye on him.
In principle, he didn't agree with this arrangement. But his teammate had broad shoulders and a narrow waist, stood 1.9 meters tall, and had well-defined muscles that looked explosively powerful. He made Jiang Huai feel completely safe, and was way too handsome.
On impulse, Jiang Huai asked, "Hey, handsome, wanna hook up?"
The man: "?" He politely declined. "Thanks, but I'm not interested."
Later...
Trapped in the man's arms with no way to escape, Jiang Huai snapped, "Didn't you say you weren't interested?"
The man kissed his brow and eyes. "I lied."
Check out my upcoming book, "How Am I Not the Favorite?!"
Bai Xi transmigrates to a strange world. The sky here is dim and sunless. The earth is barren, without a trace of greenery, and strange creatures roam everywhere, making it a dangerous place.
But Bai Xi is happy, because he has a family now, even if they're all a little odd.
His dad is as huge as a mountain and has lots of tentacles, but he gently lets Bai Xi sit on his head and use the tentacles as a slide. He also loves calling him his sweet baby in a gooey voice.
His mom is beautiful and gentle. Her thick fur can wrap little Bai Xi up completely. She just has a few too many eyes, and the eyes fight over which ones Bai Xi looks at, much to his dismay.
His big brother is mighty. When he spreads his wings, he seems able to cover half the sky. It's just that he has too many heads. So, to avoid hurting his feelings, Bai Xi gives every head an equal share of cuddles, and ends up exhausted.
His big sister is lots of fun. She can grow all kinds of flowers from her body, each a different variety. The flowers just have bad tempers, and sometimes they fight viciously over which one gets to sit on Bai Xi's head. He has no choice but to switch them out on schedule.
Though this world is bizarre, Bai Xi is content, because his family loves him so much.
He really is so happy.
Something eerie has happened in the Strange Realm. A place long plagued by contamination, madness, and bloody violence has suddenly gained a little cub out of nowhere.
The cub is a tiny fox, small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. An obvious outsider, it was expected to survive for two seconds at most.
Yet every powerful monster who went looking for trouble came back empty-handed, claiming the cub had tormented them instead.
Victim 1: I don't know! He just looked at me, and my tentacles and thoughts started cooing over the cub against my will. What the hell!
Victim 2: This is ridiculous. I went there to skewer the cub, but when it pounced on me, my sharp fur went soft on its own. My eyes even started fighting each other for the cub's attention for no reason. :)
Victim 3: That cub really is a monster! I brought out all my heads at once, but the cub didn't go mad. It came over and cuddled every single one of them...
Victim 4: My flower branches can absorb any living thing for nutrients, but when they got to the cub, they betrayed me and willingly became decorations on its head. The rest are still itching to compete for the job. I've never heard of anything like it!
The other curious monsters: So, is the cub available?
The victims: ...Get lost! No!
The day contamination swallowed everything, all living things turned into monsters. They lived in madness and violence year-round, and spreading infection became their purpose.
Until a little cub fell from the sky, and they regained their ability to think and reason.
Theme: The greater the power, the greater the responsibility
