[An honest, taciturn horse slave alpha, a gentle, sickly young lady omega] [I'm terrible at writing blurbs]
Li Jian was originally called Li Erfang. She worked diligently every day, farming and raising cattle, a plainspoken, wooden sort of person.
After killing someone, she took her own life, only to come back to life as a horse slave in the Earl Cheng'en's household. She was good at raising horses.
Later, she drank celebratory wine given to her by a young servant and fell into a hazy sleep. When she woke, the household's Seventh Miss was lying beside her. Everyone said the young lady had lost her virtue and had to marry her.
This world was strange. Women could marry women, too.
The Seventh Miss was driven out of the household along with her.
The Seventh Miss gave her a new name, Li Jian. She thought it sounded better than her old one.
The Seventh Miss was beautiful, but in poor health and always coughing. Li Jian didn't like women, but sharing a life together seemed fine.
She had to cure the Seventh Miss and help her build up her strength. She couldn't go on being so frail.
Li Jian worked hard raising horses and earning money, getting medicine for the Seventh Miss and buying her books.
The Seventh Miss was so clever. She could memorize a book after reading it just once, and she taught Li Jian how to read and write.
Li Jian thought she and the Seventh Miss had become friends.
Then one day, the Seventh Miss called her into the room, took her hand, and placed it against her own collar.
The young lady's face was more beautiful than the evening clouds. A glimmer of tears in her eyes shone like stars.
She said, "Why have you, my wife, still not touched me?"
Li Jian froze.
T-touch what? She didn't understand.
Li Jian was bound to a System that helped her raise horses. She'd never heard of anything like it before, so it was probably some kind of high technology.
But following the methods the System gave her, she raised horses that were all strong and healthy, and every one of them had twins.
The King of Yan was astonished. He summoned her in person and said that if she could raise ten thousand horses for Yan, he would make her a marquis.
When that day finally came, the King of Yan asked what other reward she wanted.
Li Jian thought for a moment and said, "My wife has a remarkable memory and great talent, but since marrying me, she's always been looked down on by other people. Many shops won't even let her enter. It's only because I'm a horse keeper. Could Your Majesty grant her a favor?"
The King of Yan asked her, "You don't want any other gold, jade, or beauties?"
Li Jian said, "I'll take the gold and jade, but not the beauties. I already have a wife."
