[Blurb needs a little polishing]
Jiang Li hasn't had a single good day since transmigrating into the Great Yan Kingdom. Her birth mother, Jiang, the head of the family, plans to give her to the State Preceptor. Rumor has it that this person practices her art on fifteen children a day and looks like a blue-faced, fanged monster.
Jiang Li went there and learned that the rumors were wrong.
She was as lovely as jade and as graceful as a pine, a woman who looked nothing like an ordinary mortal. Her name was even more extraordinary.
Her name was Jing Wuchen.
The candle went out. In the hazy moonlight, Jing Wuchen's profile was bathed in a soft glow. Jiang Li clung to her, speaking in a coy voice and making strange noises. "State Preceptor, be gentle with me."
The State Preceptor was as cool and clear as the moon, but the tips of her ears gradually turned red.
The arrival of Jing Wuchen transformed the whole Yan Kingdom. The court was thrown into turmoil, and the bricks in the marketplace grew redder by the day. At last, it was the Jiang family's turn to be imprisoned alongside the rebel Crown Prince.
The State Preceptor said she could get Jiang Li out. Jiang Li believed her.
Later, she was dragged to the execution ground. The executioner's blade seemed made of ice. Jiang Li's vision spun as she looked up at the State Preceptor on the platform, quietly watching, her robes like falling snow.
Jiang Li died, but came back to life. A passing cultivator saw the resentment she harbored and took her as a disciple, setting her on the path of cultivation as a ghost cultivator.
She also gained a golden finger: a storage ring with its own spirit. Only then did she learn how enormous this world was. Jing Wuchen was the senior disciple of the Supreme Sect. Her time in the Yan Kingdom, stirring up trouble and changing the course of events, had merely been a trial for her.
Jiang Li thought she felt no hatred. She cultivated with a cheerful smile, braved secret realms, seized opportunities, made friends, and became the talk of the town.
But she didn't know that in the dead of night, the spirit she had entrusted with her faith would take human form and quietly watch her all night long.
It looked exactly like Jing Wuchen.
Jing Wuchen had someone she loved.
She loved her so much that she betrayed her sect, fell into the demonic path, and even split her soul, all to make sure that the other woman would survive.
And survive she did, just as Jing Wuchen had hoped, carrying hatred for her.
Jing Wuchen watched her grow ever more radiant, like a pearl wiped clean of dust, a sun fallen into the mortal world. The time had come for her to leave.
As the Bewitching Incense burned quietly and its fragrance drifted through the air, Jing Wuchen, disguised as the ring spirit and dragging along her vanishing remnant soul,
bent down and placed a kiss in the air above her.
She was just about to leave when a hand clamped around her wrist. The person who should have been unconscious stared at her, wide awake, her face as cold as frost.
"You come and go as you please. Did I say you could?"
Jiang Li had someone she hated deeply.
The more she loved, the more she hated. The more she hated, the more she loved.
Please note:
1. This isn't a groveling-redemption story. It's a revenge power fantasy with a leveling-up progression.
2. A bubbly, unhinged office worker x a genuinely crazy, aloof State Preceptor (white-haired version).
Theme: Establish the heart of heaven and earth.
