A Survival Guide for Students in Japan

Expected to start on 8/16

[Serious Blurb]

Before studying abroad in Japan, Lin Ling thought her daily routine would be eating sushi, watching anime, and maybe earning tuition money by helping people buy cosmetics and medicine. But once she got there, she discovered that the world had gone completely off the rails.

In Yokohama, just off the plane, and on her very first day, she sees Yokohama's port get blown up.

Lin Ling: Seriously, dude... Is this a sign that studying abroad in Japan is a huge trap?

A week into renting a place, on her way to a work-study job in Chinatown, she's robbed by a group of kids who call themselves the "Sheep."

Lin Ling: No wonder it's a developed country. Even mugging is a job that kids have to compete for. It's as inspirational as an eighty-year-old passionately running for office.

A month after taking a part-time job managing public safety in an anime district, Lin Ling sees a cursed spirit while working in the ruins.

Lin Ling: Oh no, Japan really does have little monsters. I knew the mutation experiments weren't just a rumor! When are the fish coming?

After a year of constant invitations to lower her academic level and enroll at a technical college, Lin Ling is mistaken for a member of an organized crime syndicate and taken to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Lin Ling: ...You don't handle public safety yourselves, and when I do it, you arrest me!

Metropolitan Police Department: No, we're here to discuss a partnership.

Lin Ling: ...Aigoo, C8 Shake it! I want to go home!

Metropolitan Police Department: Actually, this is an organization suspected of international crime...

Lin Ling: I'm joining because I'm a panda girl!

Lin Ling: You really think I'm an ordinary person, when I was brave enough to study abroad?

Everyone: ?
