After the Boss Trainer Retires

If you came across a pitiful little beggar, what would you do?

Turn them over to the police, take them home, or leave them alone?

Shen Ya chooses to adopt the child. He cares for him devotedly, showers him with love, helps him rediscover the world's beauty, and fills him with hope for life and the future. Then he destroys it all.

The gentle, dependable older brother is torn apart by wild dogs after offending a nobleman's carriage.

The quirky girl next door catches the eye of a bully and kills herself in the street, barely clothed.

The buddy who used to sling an arm around his shoulder has both legs broken, gets hooked on cigarettes, and wastes away in bed.

The baker who loves children is caught up in a scam, loses everything, and kneels beneath a bridge, unable to beg for so much as half a loaf of bread.

The older brother is him. The little sister is him. The buddy is him. The baker is him, too.

Shen Ya is a boss trainer, providing final bosses for the various worlds of an infinite-flow game.

The world is unjust, and all that is beautiful is shattered. Everything real is just an illusion in his writing, nothing more than a job.

But due to an error on the part of the Lord God, he is accidentally thrown into an S-rank instance alongside a group of rookie players, even though he should have retired.

"Say that again. What did you see?"

"A run-down bakery covered in moss and mud, paving stones reeking of rust, walls densely covered in black writing, and rats. Rats that can bite someone's head off in one gulp... There are so many rats! Aaaah!"

Shen Ya looks at the cozy, beautiful little town and the child in overalls before him, smiling as he reaches out and calls him big brother. He falls silent.

So here's the question: Does the child he raised know the truth about the Truman Show?

1. Does he know or not? Hehe.

Theme: Just doing one's job.
