When Tsunayoshi Sawada was a child, he met his kindergarten classmate, Chizuru.
He liked playing with her. She was fun: she could do magic tricks, tell fortunes, and tell stories, and she took him on all sorts of adventures. She was also cute: she loved to smile, and when she did, her eyes disappeared behind her cheeks.
Whenever Tsunayoshi Sawada doodled a smiling sun on paper, he thought of his classmate Chizuru.
There was one little complication: whenever they met, he had to answer a few of her questions properly. He could brush them off, but he couldn't lie. Only then could they start playing.
The questions weren't fixed; she asked them in a different order each time. Sometimes there was just one, sometimes there were several, but they always revolved around the same things:
"Tsunayoshi, are you doing okay today?"
"Are you feeling healthy today?"
"Did you get to eat anything tasty today?"
"Tsunayoshi, did you smile today?"
Tsunayoshi Sawada knew that his friend, who asked so many questions, was just showing her concern in her own way.
But one day, for reasons of his own, he lost his temper and said something unfair.
"You don't have to keep asking me these questions! Nobody can be happy every single day! And I don't get sick all the time, either..."
As he spoke, he belatedly realized he had acted on impulse. He forced himself to soften his tone. "A-anyway, you don't have to worry about me so much."
Chizuru seemed stunned for a moment after he snapped at her.
Tsunayoshi immediately regretted it.
But regretting it did him no good.
The very next day, during his final year of elementary school, his classmate and playmate moved away and lost contact with him. They said she had gone overseas because of her family's work transfer.
He felt lonely, anxious, regretful, and despondent night after night for quite some time, then struggled through to his second year of middle school.
Just as Tsunayoshi Sawada was overwhelmed by the Ring Battle, fighting back tears every day and wishing he could wake up back in his peaceful daily life... Chizuru suddenly appeared before him, just as she had the first time they met in elementary school.
And with her came the first of the smiles and questions he had missed so much:
"Tsunayoshi, did you get any rest today?"
Tsunayoshi Sawada had just finished training and was sprawled on the ground, exhausted. He stared blankly.
As he gazed at his old classmate leaning over him... the girl he'd had a crush on since middle school, though he had only realized it after starting middle school, tears shot from his eyes like water from a toy gun.

Chizuru Kashiwa, from Meteor City, was reincarnated.
She had gone from a world full of danger to another world of peace and tranquility.
She was unbelievably, explosively happy: no more underground fighting! And she could grow up, go to school, and make friends alongside ordinary kids. She swore she'd live a wonderful life, basking in the sun every day!
So, on her very first day of kindergarten, Chizuru Kashiwa introduced herself to lots of new friends, including her classmate Tsunayoshi.
She discovered that she could still practice Nen in this world, so she used her abilities to do magic tricks and tell fortunes for her new friends. She also turned some of her past experiences into stories and told them to him.
Before long, Tsunayoshi had become her very best friend.
In the past, Chizuru Kashiwa had risked her life in illegal underground fighting clubs. Someone she had fought just that day might be beaten to death in the next match only a few hours later.
So she had grown used to greeting everyone she knew with a sincere question, making sure they were all right.
After being reincarnated in a new world, Chizuru Kashiwa kept up the same habit. The people around her simply thought she was a naturally overenthusiastic little girl and didn't say much about it.
She never expected that, after they grew up, her good friend Tsunayoshi would suddenly tell her he didn't need her to keep asking those questions.
Chizuru was confused, but agreed right away.
After all, habits could be changed, but a friend being unhappy was even more troublesome than changing a habit.
But why did Tsunayoshi look even sadder? And why, after she came back from overseas, was he lying on the ground crying?

1. The heroine is an Enhancer, and fits the stereotypical personality of a Nen user.
2. The blurb is really long, but I couldn't bear to delete it after writing it...
Theme: Be happy, stay healthy, and say hello loud and clear.
