Dying 101 Times in Front of the World's Greatest Assassin

I'm 707. I grew up in a strange training camp.

Every child here awakens a superpower, and they all end up dying horribly in one way or another. When I was eighteen, I awakened teleportation, but after my first power outburst, I stumbled into a murder scene.

Bad news: I got hit by a stray bullet.

Good news: I didn't die.

The second ability I awakened in that crisis was the power to rewind my own time.

But I didn't just rewind to before I was killed. I overshot and went all the way back to age eight, when a young assassin picked me up.

He fed me, taught me assassination techniques, and was both a father and a big brother to me.

Then, one day, after we had grown up together and depended on each other, I died again.

From then on, everything went off the rails:

I died right after we met;

I died a few days after we reunited;

A noble family took me home as their missing daughter, and the assassin didn't recognize me. By the time he did, I was dead;

After dying and coming back a hundred times, I was at peace with it. I went to see the assassin as usual, but this time I couldn't find him anywhere.

It turned out he'd vanished without a trace after taking part in a mission with some organization. Years passed without a word. So I put up a gravestone for him and killed myself in front of it.

On the 101st time, I opened my eyes to find a doctor had saved me. I couldn't let his kindness go to waste, so I chose to live. I moved to Japan to live in seclusion and gave myself the name Tomoyose Niina.

Then, just as I was starting middle school and getting a taste of an ordinary life,

I ran into the assassin again.

His rewind was much more extreme than mine. He'd gone straight back to being a baby.

Me: ...

Me: What a coincidence.

But Reborn just stared at me, his dark eyes full of feelings I couldn't understand.
