Yun Yu is a greedy little hedgehog.

After finally taking human form and sneaking into a sect, she can't resist her appetite. Every night, she changes back into a hedgehog and sneaks off to steal food from the sect's wealthiest alchemy cultivators.

One night, a woman catches her. Yun Yu assumes she's a new disciple.

Impressed by the woman's exquisite cooking, Yun Yu pats her tiny paws against her chest and teaches her all sorts of tricks for sneaking food. "Be my sidekick. I'll look after you in the sect from now on. If I've got something to eat, you'll have something to drink."

The woman smiles warmly and feeds her a fresh blueberry. "All right. Eat up."

One night, Yun Yu arrives early at the place where she and the woman agreed to sneak food, only to find the woman sitting in a chair, surrounded by a crowd of alchemy cultivators.

Her heart sinks. Her sidekick has been caught sneaking food.

Yun Yu wants to run, but when she raises a paw, she thinks of all the time they've spent together. Gritting her teeth, she bristles and charges in to save her.

But she rolls in the wrong direction, and an alchemy cultivator picks her up by her spines. "Senior Sister Pei, it's a silly little hedgehog."

The struggling hedgehog thinks: Don't I deserve to save face?

Wait, Senior Sister Pei? Her food-stealing buddy? The head senior sister of the alchemy sect, who's obsessed with alchemy and rarely shows her face?

After the disciples disperse, she is nestled in Pei Yining's palm. The woman speaks softly: "What are we eating tonight?"

Yun Yu: "..."

All you ever think about is eating.

After learning the woman's identity, Yun Yu feels thoroughly deceived. She immediately draws a line between them and stops seeking her out. The only thing she can be grateful for is that Pei Yining doesn't know what she looks like in human form.

When she hears that the alchemy sect is hosting a banquet for the whole sect, Yun Yu can't resist her appetite. She marches in openly and is seated beside Pei Yining.

She offers a polite greeting: "Hello, Senior Sister Pei."

Pei Yining is as gentle as ever. "Hello, Junior Sister Yun..."

After shamelessly eating a few skewers of grilled meat Pei Yining hands her, Yun Yu closes her eyes in contentment.

Pei Yining smiles. "Is it good?"

In high spirits, Yun Yu replies, "Delicious."

Pei Yining asks, "Then can I still be your sidekick?"

Yun Yu: ?? She's in human form! How did Pei Yining recognize her?
