My Dream of Nanke

At an art exhibition, Nan Ke saw a young man playing piano. Handsome and refined, with an elegant, otherworldly air, he stirred feelings in her that she hadn't experienced in a long time.

After getting to know him, she learned he was Quan Xiu, a pianist who had lost his sight in an accident and spent his days in gloom. The music he played from that very state of mind resonated with Nan Ke.

Nan Ke treated him well, made him laugh, gave him gifts, and kept him company on walks, but she never told him she had a boyfriend.

Xing Chen had always believed he was the one Nan Ke had chosen.

Nan Ke was beautiful and talented, from a good family but never spoiled, kind yet principled, clear-headed and self-possessed.

Xing Chen met Nan Ke when he was at his lowest. She helped him without expecting anything in return, encouraged him with the words, "Never look down on a young man just because he's poor," and accepted his confession only after giving it serious thought.

He had won the moon he loved most, yet he was always anxious and afraid that its light did not shine on him alone.
