The Harem Is a Battlefield

The emperor was incompetent. He deposed the empress and installed a new one.

The Chu family had ambitions of its own and sent a daughter to the palace to become the new empress. They never expected the emperor to die on the wedding day, turning the new empress into the empress dowager.

Chu Yueji had spent her whole life under the Chu family's control. Like a little bird with its throat gripped, she was sent into the palace. Her heart died the moment the ceremony was complete, but the emperor died in the bridal hall.

A joyous occasion turned to mourning. Countless beauties wept, and the palace was draped in white.

As Chu Yueji looked at the three-year-old crown prince's innocent eyes, a glimmer of light slowly returned to her own dark eyes.

If this was to be her life, why not live boldly for once? The emperor was still young, and a mother had to be strong. She would assist the new emperor well, for the good of the realm.

But once she began ruling from behind the curtain and her grip on power grew stronger, the beautiful flowers of the harem appeared before her more and more often, growing increasingly attentive. Some even tried to climb into her bed.

Chu Yueji, absorbed in her duties: ...?

She wasn't interested in men, but that didn't mean she was interested in women!

She set down her vermilion brush and took a bite of the pastry the woman beside her had brought to her lips, then narrowed her eyes amid the warmth and softness.

Well... perhaps it wouldn't be so bad.
