[Journey to the West] Wait Here While I Fetch Reinforcements

Jiang Liu is a monk. They say he was an orphan his master found after turning left one morning.

It sounds a little far-fetched, but it's the truth.

When he turned twenty, his master told him it was time to go down the mountain and see the world. So Jiang Liu took his ID card and his only possession, an old-fashioned mobile phone.

Then his master kicked him right out of Little Spirit Mountain Temple.

Jiang Liu: "..."

Was there really any need to kick that hard?

He brushed himself off and stood up. His vision blurred, and then he...

Transmigrated!!!

A group of ancient people nearby were calling him "Master Sanzang," while a man dressed in a robe embroidered with five-clawed golden dragons kept calling him "Imperial Brother." The scene before him was so bizarre that Jiang Liu instinctively dialed 110.

What he didn't expect was that the call actually went through.

"This is Mount Luojia at Putuo... Ah, you're almost late. Why haven't you set out on your pilgrimage yet?..."

That cryptic sentence only left the already-confused Jiang Liu even more bewildered.

Then, later on, he ran into a wild monkey beneath Five Finger Mountain.

Sun Wukong (sneaking a sniff): "Master, you smell so good."

Jiang Liu: "..." What? Is the monkey craving meat too? Or has the master-disciple romance trope made its way into Journey to the West?

A demon they encounter on the road: "Master Tang, I think so too..."

Sun Wukong: (raises the Golden Cudgel)

"Wait!" Jiang Liu stopped him and took out his old-fashioned phone. "Hello? Bodhisattva, can you come help? Right, right, your fish got out again..."
