While playing her beloved sailing game, Zelin transmigrated.
One good thing was that Zelin became the captain she'd always dreamed of being, with all the attributes and equipment from the game. Death was just a new beginning: she could inherit the experience and spoils from her previous run, growing stronger with every death.
An even better thing was that the world hadn't even entered the age of steam yet. The pirate ships sailing the Atlantic were loaded with wooden masts and sails and clumsy cannons, no match for her devastating ironclad dreadnought. This was the golden age of pirates and privateers, and Zelin knew a more advanced set of rules for playing the game of the sea.
Zelin was determined to be a good, responsible captain, so she diligently sailed through the night, carried cargo no one else would take, helped strangers down on their luck in port, took in travelers who begged to come aboard, listened to every crewman's wish, stood up against injustice, and never hesitated to spend money or make promises.
Years later, the max-level captain, who had restarted many times, heard a tale in a tavern about a giant ship that sailed only in the dark. According to the legend, the terrifying vessel answered to just one person. No matter who had once been at its helm, in the end their bodies would all be occupied by the same soul, becoming a single will. People whispered in awe and terror, calling her the "Iron King" and the "Undying Captain."
What a terrifying legend, Zelin thought. Good thing she was a law-abiding captain.

"The red-haired she-devil rose from the sea, rampaging through the darkness aboard an iron behemoth. The giant ship's lights never came on, its hull was indestructible, and the Storm God favored it, allowing it to sail beneath the water. The captain's will was everywhere, usurping the souls of twenty-four innocents. The undying captain committed every crime imaginable: defying the Royal Navy, robbing passing ships, smuggling souls, withholding deposits, murdering employers, and kidnapping people. Countless ships were sunk by her hand. To this day, people still tremble in the shadow of the Iron King." - A Comprehensive History of the Pirates of Vitoya, 1716

Reader's note:
1. This is an alternate Western history, drawing on some 18th-century pirate legends and tales. You can read it as an original story.
2. The power scaling can be unbalanced, as the female lead usually steamrolls her opponents.
3. It contains supernatural elements and does not follow a materialist worldview.
4. For reasons everyone knows, this has nothing to do with Disney's movie on the same subject.
