Old Summer Sonata

[Original title: The Period of Hesitation]

Before graduating from university, cellist Shi Qingjin confesses to the person she's had a crush on, but gets rejected. After graduation, she works out of town. When she happens to return to her hometown to perform, she helps catch an escaped criminal and runs into Cheng Zhiyu, now an unofficial criminal profiler. To put the past behind them, the two finally talk about what happened back then.

As they experience or help solve several cases, they eventually discover that their feelings back then had been mutual.

But Cheng Zhiyu had been held back by an emotional knot and couldn't accept Shi Qingjin. After weathering a few hardships, Shi Qingjin discovers that the piece of music she has always listened to was written for her by Cheng Zhiyu, and that Cheng Zhiyu had secretly organized her first performance, too. When the sonata from that summer five years ago begins to play, Shi Qingjin turns around and sees Cheng Zhiyu holding an umbrella. That's when she realizes they never missed their chance.
