Gender-bender · Chaste male lead · Cultivation world
Leader of the righteous path x Demonized asura
Bold, straightforward genius x Pretends to be a madman, but is black-hearted beneath the surface
She is the personal disciple of the foremost figure in the immortal sects, and is widely recognized as the next leader of the righteous path.
But cultivation and martial arts training are so dull and grueling that she sneaks down the mountain to enjoy herself in the mortal world.
By chance, she saves a handsome, otherworldly man.
He cannot speak and is mute. His vital channels are injured, and he has lost all his power.
Ink-black hair, snow-white robes. Long, slanting brows, and eyes that shimmer with tender feeling. No matter what she says or does, he can neither resist nor argue back. Only a faint blush spreads across his skin when he is moved. In the end, he remains gentle and attentive toward her, just like her mute wife.
She is quite pleased with him.
Then she gets bored of him.
Taking advantage of unrest in the streets, she makes a fake corpse and hangs it from a pole. Anyone would think he had died a violent death in the street. Then she leaves without a backward glance and returns to her cultivation.
That night, the fire burns fiercely. Held back by countless people, he lets out a wailing cry from his voiceless throat.
But he cannot get anywhere near the burning figure, her “corpse.”
Later, she becomes the leader of the righteous path.
Her first mission after descending the mountain is to hunt down the “Ghost King” dressed in white.
Legend has it that he was once a renowned divine physician, but was ensnared by an evil resurrection technique and became a living asura after falling to demonic cultivation.
Through the thick baleful aura, she sees those familiar eyes.

Content warnings:
[Important]
The blurb shows only a tiny part of the story. Please don’t make assumptions based on the blurb alone. Don’t ask me to change the wording, characters, or plot. No writing advice, personal attacks, labeling, or people with zero subscriptions barging into the free chapters to dump on the story in the comments. Comments from such weirdos will be deleted, and they’ll be kicked out.
1. E-style cultivation, with a mountain of original worldbuilding.
2. [Important] [Second-edited in 2026:]
The female lead is heartless in the beginning. She will regret it later, but the focus is more on self-recrimination and bittersweet angst.
The male lead has some relatively dark turns, but even after going dark, he is still love-struck.
After thinking through the plot, the author decided the story no longer fits the “Chasing the Wife to the Crematorium” tag, so it has been removed.
3. This story serves the story itself and is not friendly to fans who are fixated on either lead. Extreme fans, don’t read.
4. Though the female lead is heartless at first, she is genuinely a good person. The details aren’t spoiled in the blurb.
5. Happy ending. Whether the male lead regains the ability to speak is up to the reader to decide. The blurb won’t spoil it.
6. May everything go smoothly.
