Wen Dong’s first impression of Zhang Xingxu was: This guy is crazy.

That day, she was catching her breath halfway up a mountain when she looked up and saw someone climbing over the railing of the viewing platform.

The mountain wind whipped his clothes and blew his hair across his face. Five words popped into Wen Dong’s head: He doesn’t want to live!

She immediately reached out and shouted, “Wait!”

Zhang Xingxu glanced back at her.

A floral sweater dress, loose braids, and swimming goggles on her head.

What kind of weird outfit was that?

And yet, that outfit managed to hold his attention for a full 60 seconds.

A minute later, the girl came panting up to the viewing platform, hands on her knees, gasping for breath. “How about waiting two months before you jump? The apartment I’m looking at is about to go on sale, and I’ve got my eye on the twelfth floor. If you jump from there, maybe the prices will drop a little more.”

Zhang Xingxu frowned.

What was she even talking about?

Later, the two of them went to a temple to burn incense.

When it was time to write their prayers, Zhang Xingxu held his brush without moving, then turned to look at her.

In the sunlight, her face was clear and bright, and she was smiling happily in the same floral dress she had worn when they first met.

He asked, “What did you write?”

Wen Dong answered smugly, “A promotion, a fortune, and a dead husband.”

Zhang Xingxu’s expression grew complicated. After a moment’s hesitation, he asked with complete seriousness, “Then would you like to marry me?”

Wen Dong’s hand jerked, and the wooden plaque fell to the ground.

Later, he discovered that someone had blacked out part of Wen Dong’s prayer plaque and added a new line beside it:

"A promotion and a fortune. May Zhang Xingxu be safe and well every year"

[Content warnings and reading tips]:

1. Slice-of-life, everyday humor, happy ending.

2. The male lead is extremely rich, but his whole world revolves around the female lead. The female lead also comes from a very troubled family background. This is not a wish-fulfillment story, so read with caution if that bothers you.

3. This is not a conventional redemption story. The female lead won’t actively try to save him. The male lead is gradually influenced by her attitude toward life, going from withdrawn to more cheerful. He really is ill, but she doesn’t manage him, and there won’t be any scenes like “I’ll do such-and-such for him” in which she tries to save him. The female lead loves herself very, very much.

4. If it’s not for you, please stop reading.

My next book will be To the Wild, a slice-of-life tragedy.

High-minded literary man vs. vulgar, flamboyant woman

Theme: Move closer to the light, follow the light, become the light.
