★ “Don’t become a stone. Become the edge of a blade.”
★ Wildfire vs. winter snow / school ensemble / Courage is the most important thing in life
The day after the college entrance exams, a steady rain fell over Huazhou Town.
Rain blew diagonally into the room and dampened the square box on the table.
Xia Lian looked away, closed the window, and turned around. Lu Lijin was propped against the headboard, fiddling with a lighter. A flame leapt from his fingertips and lit a Seven Star cigarette. Its scarlet tip stood out in the dim room, like the hickey on the side of his neck.
“I’m leaving. Song Xingzhe is waiting downstairs.”
She casually threw on a coat, leaned toward Lu Lijin, and took the cigarette from his hand with her lips.
Her chin brushed his palm. Perhaps deliberately, she looked up at him.
Lu Lijin’s eyes were dark and cold. He grabbed her and pressed her down onto the bed.
His voice was hoarse, damp with the feel of the rain. “Either go downstairs and break up with him,”
Ash fell onto her arm and scattered in the wind.
His mouth curled into a mocking smile, his eyes icy. “Or get out of my bed.”

The epigraph is from Gloria Anzaldua.
[Reading tips and content warnings]:
1. The female lead has only one partner, and she is not involved with several people at once.
2. This is an ensemble story set at school. Everyone gets to be the main character of their own youth.
3. The central theme is standing up to school bullying. The romance focuses on the two leads. The author will write it with great intensity, so feel free to leave if it’s not for you.

My next book will be To the Wild, a slice-of-life tragedy.
High-minded literary man vs. vulgar, flamboyant woman
Theme: Never lose the courage to speak up and fight back.
