Player's perspective:
A strange store suddenly opened on the Infinite Shopping Street.
It was called the Shanhai Containment Center.
Curious, the players stepped inside,
only to discover things weren't what they'd expected.
Not only were the materials sold in the store ridiculously expensive,
every one of the mythical beasts had a strange temperament.
And the store manager opened up about as often as he felt like it,
so seeing him three times in a month was already a lot.
...With a store this arrogant, how has it not gone out of business?
Protagonist's perspective:
At death's door, just to survive,
Xun He agreed to the unfair terms of the Infinite Game,
then was forced to take in a bunch of troublesome "mythical beasts."
Some greeted him by sending a fireball right at his face.
Some stubbornly crawled into his bed every day.
Some even tried to trick him into letting them escape with illusions.
The most ridiculous thing was...
There was a whole bunch of escapees waiting for him to go capture them?
Faced with a horde of disobedient creatures, on his very first day Xun He lost patience and pulled out his Tang sword to beat up the Taotie that kept drooling at him. Hearing the thick-skinned Taotie howl and scream in pain, the Shanhai beasts stared wide-eyed in anger and disbelief.
Later, when beasts challenged him, Xun He planted his foot on the belly of the Bifang that had come to provoke him and fiddled with the tip of his spear through his fingerless gloves. His calm gaze swept over the now-silent beasts, and his voice was cold and utterly even: "Who's next?"
The thickheaded beasts, each with their own little schemes: Revenge is best served a hundred years later. They'll just see who lives longer!
But the Shanhai beasts soon discovered, to their horror, that this store manager wasn't human...
Reader's Note:
1. An unconventional take on the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Not for scholarly scrutiny. A light, brainless story with no regard for logic.
2. Elements: Classic of Mountains and Seas + infinite-flow + post-apocalyptic wasteland + containment and management.
3. This is a work of fiction. Please don't conflate it with reality.
Theme: Gradually making peace amid conflict
