(The second book in the Winter Crime Investigation series: Winter 2: The Profiler)

Crime withers and fades like a black spider lily.

Chu Yao hates people who talk in riddles. He thinks everyone who studies psychology is a freak, all show and no substance.

When he meets Shen Huai, he gives him a warning: "Well, I've been in criminal investigation for years, and I've never seen a fortune-teller solve a case before."

From then on, the two are at odds.

"The Special Case Investigation Team has a secret no one knows about. Want to hear it?" Shen Huai mysteriously offers Chu Yao a cigarette.

Chu Yao leans against the desk, arms crossed. "Expert Shen, will you die if you go one day without acting like a fortune-teller?"

"There's something wrong with you, and I'm the only one who can see it." Shen Huai points at Chu Yao's head. "The famous Team Leader Chu is actually a potential antisocial killer. That wouldn't sound too good if it got out. So, how about I keep your secret for you?"

[Nontraditional happy ending]
