The Obedience Gu Has Side Effects

Blurb:

Shi Xin has been afraid of light and the sun since birth. She's a strange girl who can't go out during the day or attend school. She can only hide in the darkness, envying the freedom of people who can move about under the sun.

After her mother died, she survived by communicating with spirits.

A client's appointment ran overtime, and Shi Xin couldn't get home before dawn.

Trapped in an alley, she curled up in a corner, hoping her friend would arrive before the sunlight did.

Just as the sunlight was about to reach Shi Xin's toes, a figure appeared out of nowhere before her, briefly blocking the sun.

In that instant, Shi Xin saw the thick aura of malice wrapped around the person. Her not particularly sharp sixth sense told her:

This person could let her walk into the sunlight.

So Shi Xin planted the "obedience" gu worm her mother left behind in the person.

Lu Shaming had been sealed away for hundreds of years. At last, he broke free, eager to go on a killing spree and vent his anger.

But he'd been tricked into becoming a young girl's lackey.

With his temper ready to explode at the slightest provocation, he glared at Shi Xin, plotting how to skin this despicable human alive, tear her limb from limb, and cut her to pieces.

Shi Xin pointed to a corner and ordered, "Sleep there."

Lu Shaming sneered, "What are you, to make me sleep on the floor?"

The next second, his limbs betrayed his brain.

In the middle of the night, Lu Shaming suddenly opened his eyes from his sleep. His voice was hoarse with restraint as he asked, "Shi Xin, what kind of gu did you put in me?"

Shi Xin was still groggy when she opened her eyes. Lu Shaming had her trapped in his arms, and a scorching kiss came down, stealing her breath.

Shi Xin struggled with all her might and ordered, "Let go of me. Back away."

Lu Shaming obediently withdrew to the corner, his fiery gaze fixed on Shi Xin, though his heart wasn't in it.

Shi Xin was so frightened that she didn't sleep all night.

Only later did she learn that the obedience gu had a side effect.

At first, Lu Shaming planned to kill Shi Xin after the gu was removed.

Later, Lu Shaming planned to "kill Shi Xin" in another way after the gu was removed.

Reading guide:

The setting serves the romance, and neither lead is perfect. The heroine schemes against the hero so she can see the light. The hero is a genuinely brutal monster.
