Moli was treated like a freak as a child, but her mother only ever told her she was different from other children.
When she turned eighteen, she was sent to a vocational training school in the city-state of Oris.
After half a year of following the routine, a new teacher arrived at the school. She had a very unusual name: Lin Su.
She seemed like someone from beyond the island, with fair skin, a slender figure, and bright, clear eyes.
Unlike the others, she wasn't cold toward Moli. Her eyes and brows were always warmed by a gentle smile. She was like a god patiently soothing a tiny hedgehog covered in wounds, yet always remained calm and distant, beautiful and mysterious.
From then on, an evil thought gradually took root in Moli's mind: she wanted to drag Lin Su down from her pedestal.
One stormy night, they were forced to huddle together beneath a cold, drafty shelter to escape the rain.
Moli nervously confessed her feelings, but Lin Su rejected her firmly.
"Moli, do you know the two laws of the city-state of Oris?"
Of course she did.
First, same-sex relationships were forbidden. Second, relationships between teachers and students were forbidden.
Later, the Church began a citywide purge under the pretense of rooting out heretics, and Moli's family became a target.
Lin Su was captured while helping her family escape. A week later, she was led to a high platform and the gallows. Below her, people watched with excitement or indifference, eagerly awaiting her death.
Just as the whole city cheered, a towering wave suddenly rose from the sea, and the sky transformed in an instant.
Tied to the cross, Lin Su's pupils contracted as she looked toward the girl standing atop the giant wave.
Moli, who had long since become a sea monster, easily broke through the shackles of humanity and wrapped her long tail around the woman on the platform, pulling her into her arms.
The girl's expression was indifferent, but unmistakable possessiveness swirled in her blue eyes.
"If you don't love me, why did you save me?"
"Never mind. I don't want to hear your explanation. From today on, I won't let you go."
/Before she met Lin Su, Moli had never known what love was.
After meeting her, Moli could only think: What would it matter if she destroyed a city for the person she loved?
