A Childhood Friend Sent from Heaven

Carefree sweetheart of a childhood friend x childhood friend with eight hundred tricks up his sleeve

On a summer afternoon, the air was as muggy as ever, and the old fan in the living room creaked as it blew hot air around.

At the dinner table, Ye's mother chattered on about a colleague's child who had been caught dating and whose grades had suffered. She shot a sideways glance at Ye Zhenzhen, who was sitting there like a quail, and warned her not to date before the college entrance exams. Then she turned with a beaming smile to Zhang Yunbai, who was quietly eating beside her, and asked him to keep an eye on Ye Zhenzhen and make sure she didn't date anyone.

Zhang Yunbai sat up straight and gave Ye Zhenzhen a fleeting glance. "Don't worry, Aunt Chen. I'll keep an eye on Zhenzhen."

Delighted by his promise, Ye's mother kept piling food onto his plate.

At his words, Ye Zhenzhen thought of how, earlier, Zhang Yunbai had used tutoring as an excuse to get her alone. Behind the tightly shut door, he'd held her chin and kissed her like his life depended on it, as if he wanted to devour her whole.

Ye Zhenzhen glared at him, sitting there all proper, and cursed him under her breath.

What a hypocrite!

She suddenly met his dark eyes. Ye Zhenzhen glared back, her face burning as she bit her lip without thinking.

Zhang Yunbai's gaze turned intense. In a husky voice, he said to Ye's mother, "Aunt Chen, I just remembered I haven't gone over Zhenzhen's exam paper with her yet. I'll head home a little later."

Ye Zhenzhen's heart pounded, and she had a bad feeling.

Just as she was about to refuse, Ye's mother smiled broadly and answered for her.

Ye Zhenzhen: "..." She was already starting to suffocate.

Help, my childhood friend is way too clingy. What do I do?

*Before the leads are adults, there is no intimate contact or relationship. All intimacy takes place after they are adults, so this is not an early romance.
