Li Huai'an first met Ming Yan on the train fleeing to Liming City.

The other person wore a white knee-length dress and a wide-brimmed hat. They looked like an inexperienced young girl, yet gently and skillfully soothed the baby in their arms. Their clean, holy presence was completely out of place amid the grime and chaos around them.

They never said a word the entire time, quietly watching everyone who passed by, including Li Huai'an.

For many days afterward, Li Huai'an thought they were mute. But it didn't matter. He still fell for them.

Then, on his last mission, as he secretly kissed them, the other person spoke:

"Li Huai'an."

"I'm a man."

Their voice was clear and cool, like jade striking jade.

Li Huai'an crushed the cup in his hand.

"That child is yours."

But Li Huai'an never saw the child again. He died on that mission and became a ghost, watching helplessly as Ming Yan erected a tombstone for the child, then sank into the river with Li Huai'an's ashes in his arms.

Ming Yan even sang him a song, an unknown little tune, his voice as rich and clear as it had been then.

And then Li Huai'an was reborn.

In his previous life, Ming Yan had brought the child to find Li Huai'an, only to be met with cold words and indifferent rejection.

Heartbroken, he carried the child alone through a life of hardship.

Yet when he was on the verge of death, it was Li Huai'an who sacrificed himself to save him.

It was the night of the full moon. He buried the child in the earth, then said to the corpse growing cold in his arms:

"Li Huai'an, let me sing you a song."

"The one you sang to me so many years ago."

"It's called 'Daybreak'..."

They were buried together beneath the yellow earth.

Warnings:

1. There are two rebirths. Each of them forgets one lifetime, but they'll remember later. They get a happy ending in their third life.

2. Ming Yan is the top. The child is their biological child and is related by blood to both of them. But there is no childbirth in this novel, which is explained later.

3. One-on-one romance, emotionally and physically faithful. No ship-reversal arguments.

4. Post-apocalyptic wasteland novel. Besides zombies, there are other monsters, inspired by games and movies, which will be explained in the story. There are no superpowers, but both the top and bottom are very strong and badass~
