During the Primordial Era, the Xuanji Pavilion appeared out of nowhere and quickly established itself in the divine realm, becoming a powerful force with influence in many places. Even the Divine Palace regarded it with wariness.

Since the Hongze Era, Xuanji Pavilion had extended its reach across the Five Realms, widely recruiting disciples and gathering people from every corner of the world. None who joined the pavilion were ordinary, and its elusive master had become a subject people spoke of only in hushed tones.

The Five Realms were in turmoil. A prophecy foretold the end of the age of cultivation and the death of all gods. The people lived in fear, and only Xuanji Pavilion glimpsed a way to survive: disperse spiritual energy and nourish all things.

And cultivators could disperse their spiritual energy only by dying.

Wei Jian was born of the foul qi in the Blood River of the Ghost Realm. Despised by all Five Realms and rejected by society, he was destined from birth to live as a vagrant, barely scraping by.

Anyone who had seen him knew he liked to wear an old black robe, his hair unkempt and his eyes red as blood beads. He looked like a ghost, a complete madman.

And yet he saved the Five Realms from destruction.

Wei Jian had a secret.

He had hidden someone's spine inside his own body.

People called him cursed from birth, doomed to be alone.

But in his more than five hundred years of life, he had not been entirely alone.

Please note before reading:

1. A one-on-one relationship, and they are each other's only one. No switching or reversing roles, and the love interest will never change. The love interest appears only in memories during the early and middle parts of the story. This is mutual pining, not unrequited love. Other characters' stories are told from the pursuer's perspective as a passerby. There may be family, romance, friendship, BL, GL, and BG relationships, with many ensemble scenes and extensive flashbacks.

2. Written for my own enjoyment. The writing is amateurish.
