No Entry [Apocalypse]

After the nuclear contamination outbreak, the mutated apocalypse began.

Humanity urgently established a protected zone, separated from the habitats outside by a circular mechanical wall. People who had not yet been contaminated were relocated inside, while the mutated remained outside.

For two hundred years, those outside had followed one ironclad rule to preserve the absolute purity of human genes: no entry.

Cheng Jiyan was the best hunter of heterospecies outside the zone. One day, he found someone who looked a lot like a human. He realized that humans could be so beautiful, and decided to take this person home and care for them.

Much later, Cheng Jiyan recalled the first time he saw Si Lan: it was like finding a white rose, described in an ancient book, fallen into the mud.

It would have been even better if the rose had a weaker grip and fewer prickly thorns.

"My mission is to protect the future of humanity."

A few clarifications (minor content notes):

1. No zombies or supernatural powers. Most people outside the zone still look human. Those hunted are various organisms in the middle and late stages of contamination, including, but not limited to, humans.

2. Contamination has different levels. This is a custom wasteland apocalypse, so things may not follow the usual conventions.

3. The setting is fictional, and the pseudo-science won't stand up to scrutiny.

4. Both leads are strong. They have to be.
