Shen Qing is the star of the Second Research Institute's craniofacial reconstruction department, spending his days repeating the same dull routine of going to work and coming home.

The first time he sensed something was off was when his senior, who was always picking on him and badmouthing him to the director, suddenly changed. While the police investigated and gathered evidence, Shen Qing quietly deleted the surveillance footage from the laboratory.

The second time Shen Qing sensed something was off was when the stern senior officer assigned to work with him on a case stood smiling brightly, unable to tear himself away from the sodas in a convenience-store freezer.

Shen Qing decided to go all in and angrily made the senior officer down sixteen bottles.

After they parted, the wooden doll in Shen Qing's pocket burped the whole way home.

The third time Shen Qing sensed something was off was when he went home to attend a gathering of demon hunters and discuss how to capture the Great Demon King, who had just broken through its seal and was vicious, violent, and a merciless killer. His father's uncle's granddaughter, a member of the clan, blocked him at the back door, her face creased with a smile. She reached out with half an inch of “manicure” and patted his chest. “Your figure's really nice, big brother.”

Shen Qing: “...Don't be ridiculous. I have to call this old lady Great-Grandma.”

The fourth time, the fifth time... Shen Qing helped the second uncle next door dye his silver hair black, then helped the toddler downstairs hide a huge, fiery-red tail under his pants...

They reached an understanding and smiled at each other.
