Don't ask. It's miserable, according to Gu Bai himself.

He had planned to get away from the book's outrageously arrogant male lead and flee on his own, but then a strange memory entered his mind.

"Oh, I guess I might possibly be a substitute?"

Great! Now I can run away without a guilty conscience!

But before he could even start running, the big shots who had gathered around him began to turn red-eyed, one by one.

The renowned Immortal Venerable of Nanwu, his second senior brother Qi Chen, grabbed his hand. "Xiao Bai, I've mastered the sword technique you taught me."

The beautiful and kind-hearted Immortal Maiden Mingqian, a master of both swordsmanship and poison, burst into tears. His senior sister said, "It was all my fault. I couldn't save you."

And the Demon Venerable, who had shown up at his door to force him into marriage and clung to his side ever since, the original male lead from the book, held him close. "This time, I'll stay with you."

Gu Bai: "Hello? I thought I was a substitute?"

The people of the three realms, waiting to see when he would be cast aside: "Wait, this isn't right!"

Reading Guide:

* 1v1, happy ending, both leads' first time

* The gong will briefly split into separate fragments for at most three chapters, but he's always the same person. It's strictly 1v1.

* The System is just a little fellow who likes to act cute. Its golden finger isn't very useful.

* The shou is younger, then older, then younger again, with a slight everybody-loves-him tendency.

* The author has no sense of logic. The writing is amateurish and reads like a rambling diary.

* Entirely fictional setting

* Includes mystery and supernatural elements.

When Shi Sheng was ten months old, his parents brought home a new big brother. The new brother was handsome, but didn't like talking.

As Shi Sheng tilted his head to look at him, someone claiming to be a System appeared and pointed at the new brother with a warning.

"He's the Dragon-Proud male lead of this world, and you're the villain who bullies him. In the end, he'll kill you on a rainy night, when you're twenty years old."

"Host, did you understand what I said? You need to keep the male lead in check and become the true winner of life."

Shi Sheng lay in his crib and blinked. Baby doesn't understand.

Even though he couldn't understand what the System was saying, he still got into a fight with his new brother. He puffed out his cheeks and bit his brother viciously. His brother bit him back, while the System watched and cheered them on.

The System thought its Host had finally gotten the hang of things and was about to draw up a life plan when everything took a turn for the better.

At dinner, his brother awkwardly and clumsily fed Shi Sheng spoonfuls of egg custard as an apology. Shi Sheng happily hugged his brother's face and kissed it twice.

Brother: "!!!"

From that day on, Shi Sheng's brother took part in every day of his life and gave him everything he wanted.

Xie Zhinan knew something was wrong with him. He could give Shi Sheng anything, but he would never allow Shi Sheng to leave him.

He would dutifully see a therapist, but deep down, he knew he was incurably ill, and Shi Sheng was his only cure.

Shi Sheng took a sip of his drink. The next second, someone took the glass from him and wiped the traces of alcohol from his lips.

The male lead who was supposed to kill him, according to the System, asked only one question: "Who said that?"

* A sunny, carefree, pampered, high-maintenance young master shou x a cold, obsessive, ghostlike older-brother gong

* A lighthearted, happy story about raising a child. They aren't blood-related.

* No common triggers that I can think of, though I'm not sure about more niche ones.

* The gong has some psychological issues and is very possessive. They get worse as he gets older.
