Xue Qing transmigrates straight into a massacre, becoming a Japanese tit in the middle of the massacre where the mad villain Lu Jindeng is wiping out a household.
He does his best to stay alive, praying the villain won't run him through with a sword. Suddenly, a hand grabs him, and he comes eye to eye with the villain, whose face is spattered with blood.
Perhaps his terrified expression is too vivid. A strange smile curls Lu Jindeng's lips. “Little weakling, want to come with me?”
And so Xue Qing goes from being a tit who can't even forage for food to becoming the immortal Venerable Lu Jindeng's spiritual pet.
But he witnessed the entire massacre Lu Jindeng committed, and he's always afraid the other man will have a bad day and decide to kill him to keep him quiet.
So he secretly saves up travel money, always ready to leave Lu Jindeng.
But that day never comes. Lu Jindeng lets him do whatever he wants in his territory, lets him sleep in his bed, lets him be picky and sulk, and always has an inscrutable, secret smile in his eyes.
In the end, Xue Qing never gets killed to keep him quiet. He still dies, though.
He dies right before Lu Jindeng's eyes, his snowy-white feathers stained red.
When Xue Qing wakes again, he has taken human form and is being bound and dragged to Hanqing Mountain. The people who captured him want him to play the part of immortal Venerable Lu Jindeng's abandoned wife, left behind when he was poor, and lure Lu Jindeng out at the mountain gate.
In the heavy snow, Xue Qing recites his lines in a trembling voice.
“My husband is so heartless. Now that he's successful, he's abandoned his husband and child.”
“If my husband doesn't come out today, I'm not leaving.”
“I served my husband like a god, and he cast me aside like trash.”
He thinks Lu Jindeng won't bother with such a ridiculous stunt. But before the tears he's forced himself to shed can even fall, Lu Jindeng appears.
In response to the accusation that he abandoned his husband and child, Lu Jindeng grabs Xue Qing by the neck, pulls him tight against his chest, and admits to it without hesitation.
“My wife is right. Why don't we remarry tomorrow?”
Xue Qing: “???” That's not how this is supposed to go!
A cold palm strokes his lower belly. “But since my wife is expecting, where's the child?”
“There's no rush. We can take our time.”
