After the Cannon Fodder Disciple Awakens

After accidentally binding to a System, Meng Qingya discovers that the world he lives in is a cultivation novel. For some unknown reason, the novel's major villain, Rong Gui, falls to darkness, transforming from the revered Immortal Venerable of Fuyuan into a demon everyone wants dead.

Meng Qingya, the cannon-fodder disciple of Rong Gui who dies young: "..." What??? Why has Master become a demon?

To stop his master's tragic fate, he accepts the System's mission to prevent the villain from falling to darkness.

To make sure his master feels loved and doesn't turn evil, Meng Qingya becomes Rong Gui's constant shadow, sticking close to him every day.

After Rong Gui finishes practicing his sword, Meng Qingya hurries over with a cup of warm water, blinking at him. "Master, you must be thirsty. Have some water."

The faint scent of lotus wafts from Meng Qingya's body. His disciple looks perfectly obedient and proper, yet Rong Gui inexplicably feels a stirring inside.

Rong Gui: I keep feeling like my disciple is going after me.

To make sure his master feels cared for by his own disciple, Meng Qingya keeps piling food into Rong Gui's bowl whenever they eat together.

"Master, try some of these. They're delicious!"

Rong Gui looks at the dishes in his bowl, all of them Meng Qingya's favorites, and silently lowers his eyes.

Rong Gui: These are all his favorite dishes. This kid usually guards his food like a hawk, but today he's put it all in my bowl. Does he like me?

To give Rong Gui something to look forward to, Meng Qingya often prepares gifts and little surprises for him. He makes belts and sword tassels by hand, and even travels all the way to the Eastern Sea to fetch a mermaid pearl as a birthday gift for Rong Gui.

Rong Gui: Giving someone a mermaid pearl means you're courting them. My disciple must be pursuing me and giving me a token of love.

Some time later

Rong Gui's corruption level: -99%. Only 1% remains.

System: Wow, we're so good at this! The mission is almost complete! But how do we bring that last 1% down?

Meng Qingya scratches his cheek. All kinds of ornaments made by Rong Gui jingle and clatter on him as he mutters to himself, "I don't know. What else can I do to stop Master from becoming a villain?"

The tall, handsome man suddenly wraps his arms around his waist from behind. A low, magnetic voice sounds beside his ear:

"Why don't you become my cultivation partner?"

"Maybe then I won't turn evil."

Reader's Guide 📢

① As usual, this is a sweet, slice-of-life romance with very little plot. I might spend a lot of words describing even the most ordinary little things between the couple. I just want to enjoy a domineering top who spoils his sweet, obedient bottom, and a darling bottom. If that's not your thing, please don't come in‼️

② 1v1, both are each other's first. 🚫 No breaking them up, reversing roles, dream shipping, or obsessive shipping. 🚫 No insulting or putting down the couple. If you have to insult someone, insult me. 🚫 No unsolicited writing advice. Other than pointing out ordinary typos, I won't accept any changes to my wording, such as demands that I replace one word with another.

③ I love writing about a world where everyone gets along. I write novels because I love shipping BL couples, and there won't be any couples of other orientations besides BL.

④ I haven't decided on a secondary couple yet, but given how I tend to get carried away shipping couples and pairing characters together, there will probably be one. They definitely won't take over the story.

"Ancestor, This Fox Doesn't Want to Be the Ruler of a Fallen Dynasty!"

Chi Xiyi is a fox.

After an accident, he takes the place of a young prince of the ruling dynasty. To his surprise, before long the prince's elder brother, a foolish emperor, is about to die too.

On his deathbed, the foolish emperor grips Chi Xiyi's hand and says with a tremble, "M-my younger brother must stand shoulder to shoulder with the Great Ancestor."

And so, the clueless fox, who knows nothing about governing a country, is thrust onto the throne. The dynasty is already riddled with problems and teetering on the brink of collapse, looking every bit like a kingdom doomed to fall.

Chi Xiyi weeps bitterly: Ancestor, save me! This fox doesn't want to be the ruler of a fallen dynasty!

His cry really does summon the ancestor of the Xiao family.

The Great Ancestor, Xiao Fuxu. The histories describe him as one who "conquered new territory with bow and horse, and ruled with an iron hand." He raised an army at seventeen and unified the Central Plains at twenty-five. During his forty-year reign, he drove the Di and Rong tribes north and quelled floods in the south. He personally established the foundations of a dynasty that lasted three hundred years, earning a place among the greatest emperors of all time.

Recently, Xiao Fuxu has often felt dazed. Every so often, he inexplicably falls asleep, and when he opens his eyes again, the world has changed.

The realm he conquered is now riddled with problems and on the verge of collapse, and the person at its helm is a fool.

Xiao Fuxu: Oh no, the dynasty's about to fall.

In that case, I'll just conquer the realm again.

The first day of tutoring the foolish fox

Xiao Fuxu: The Empress Dowager's maternal family is the Pingning Marquis household. They're sworn enemies of the Duke of Yingguo's household, which stands behind Consort Li. Don't mention her in front of the Empress Dowager.

Chi Xiyi: What big chicken? Are we having a big chicken leg tonight?

Xiao Fuxu: ...Never mind. Foxes love chicken. I'll put up with it.

The foolish fox truly has no talent for governing. Xiao Fuxu criticizes him, yet can't help personally guiding him through his official duties.

"Aren't foxes supposed to be clever? Why are you so dumb?"

"Listen carefully this time. I'm not explaining it again."

"You crybaby, don't cry. I'll tell you, all right?"

But when Chi Xiyi is driven into a corner by all the ministers, who use the laws of the ancestors to threaten him into issuing an edict confessing his guilt, Xiao Fuxu uses up the last of his power to manifest and stamp his approval as the Great Ancestor.

"He is a wise ruler."

"Great Zhou will once again enter an age of prosperity."

Chi Xiyi's diary of saving the kingdom:

First month, seventeenth day. Sunny.

With the big ghost's guidance, this fox successfully executed a treacherous minister. This fox is amazing (≧◇≦)

Second month, first day. Rainy.

The big ghost showed this fox a way to make money. The royal treasury is gradually filling up. This fox is going to become a little golden fox ^_^

Fourth month, fifteenth day. Sunny.

The Western Regions sent a red fox-fur cloak as tribute. How terrifying T^T. This fox will never go to the Western Regions!

The big ghost says he's never hunted a fox. What a good ghost! I'll let him pet this fox's tail for a little longer today, but only a little!

Seventh month, twenty-sixth day. Cloudy.

What good ghost? Cross that out, cross it out! Xiao Fuxu is the worst ghost ever! This fox's butt hurts o(╥﹏╥)o

#Weren't you supposed to be the ruler of a fallen dynasty? How did you become the founding emperor's empress! 🙃

#Ancestor, it looks like Great Zhou is doomed. Your descendant is not only a fake, but also gay‼️

#Wait, something's off. Ancestor, how come you seem gay too‼️ ()

#Never mind, so this is what the laws of the ancestors are all about 🥲.
