The Divine Venerable Is Here

The Evil God is dead. Whenever a high god falls, the divine bell atop the Ninth Heaven rings out across the skies. The Divine Lord Rong Chu stands before the bell, unable to gather himself for a long time. “Yu You…” Three hundred years later, Yu You is reborn. As an Evil God, how could he have failed to leave himself a way out? That Ten Thousand Ghosts Formation was only a smokescreen, a trick to switch one thing for another. He had prepared his escape route long ago. Rong Chu looks at the Soul-Locking Lantern in his hand, its light flickering on and off, and smiles softly. “A cunning rabbit has three burrows.” “Just make sure you don’t fall into my hands.” They say the Three Realms have been in an uproar lately, all because of a man with no spiritual power at all, yet a whole arsenal of forbidden arts. He wreaks havoc wherever he goes, picking fights with the Grand Supreme Elder in Heaven and causing chaos in the underworld. He has turned the Three Realms upside down, leaving no peace anywhere. Rong Chu lounges against the back of his chair, lips curving. “Is that so?” “Mischievous as ever. You haven’t changed one bit all these years.” Pinned to the bed, Yu You repeats over and over, “I won’t do it again.” Rong Chu: “I never thought you’d have it in you to back down.” Yu You’s face turns red with rage. “You’re taking advantage of the fact that I have no spiritual power! Have you no shame?” * Sadly, their good days don’t last. The divine bell atop the Ninth Heaven rings out across the skies once again. Yu You’s life tablet has shattered, and his soul is scattered across the Nine Provinces. “Have you heard?” “He did every evil under the sun. Good riddance.” “I wonder what he really was.” “Some say he was an ill omen.” Before long, the immortals of the Ninth Heaven notice a snow-white rabbit in the Divine Lord’s arms. It radiates auspicious energy and inspires affection in everyone who sees it. The Divine Lord dotes on the little pet, taking it everywhere and never letting it out of his sight. The pet is a handful, though, always causing trouble in the divine palace. The little rabbit climbs up Rong Chu’s clothes to his shoulder and gnaws at his hair. “Hungry?” Rong Chu gently strokes its head. The little rabbit glares at him furiously. “Be good.” “I’ll give you a carrot in a moment, all right?” The little rabbit bites down on his finger, leaving a deep mark. Looking at the bite marks all over his hand, Rong Chu sighs. “Are you getting back at me for biting you?” Yu You takes human form, bites the mark again, and curses, “Pah, you bastard!” Reader’s guide: 1. The first part features an ensemble cast, but it’s just a transition into the lower realm arc. 2. The uke is powerful, but having lost his spiritual power and become mortal, he’s easily injured. 3. It’s a short, fast-paced read. 4. The story contains plenty of original worldbuilding, so don’t overthink it. 5. The uke is a villain, but not entirely. He’s not a perfect character. 6. Rong Chu has two dragon whiskers (or perhaps they’re not whiskers). 7. The Divine Lord is the seme (as in, he tops). A companion to Above All, My Master, featuring the Evil God Yu You × Divine Lord Rong Chu Beautiful-but-tragic, powerful Evil God uke × gentle, powerful Divine Lord seme Power couple / mutual pining / healing / monogamous / bittersweet / happy ending A preview of The Divine Lord Below II, about Yu You descending to the mortal realm to undergo tribulations three hundred years later. Blurb: Three hundred years ago, the high god Yu You sacrificed himself to power a formation, destroying his own divine soul to save the Three Realms from disaster. Three hundred years later, Yu You is reborn. His seventy thousand years of cultivation have vanished in an instant, and with his divine soul damaged, he now has no spiritual power at all. The immortals of the Ninth Heaven discover that Divine Lord Rong Chu has recently acquired a beloved pet. He adores it so much that it climbs right onto his head and does whatever it likes. Someone once made a few teasing remarks about the Divine Lord’s pet. The very next day, the Divine Lord banished that person to the Demon Realm, claiming it was for training, when in reality it was punishment for being disrespectful. No one dares show disrespect to the seemingly innocent, adorable little white rabbit, afraid that offending it will get them banished by the Divine Lord the next day. After turning the Ninth Heaven upside down, Yu You is thoroughly depressed when a little immortal blurts out, “Foundation Establishment.” His damaged divine soul makes cultivation progress painfully slow. The Medicine King: “If the High God wishes to recover his cultivation as quickly as possible, there’s only one way.” Yu You: “What?” The Medicine King: “Dual cultivation with the Divine Lord will help you achieve your goal.” Yu You: “How did a quack like you ever become a divine official?” He finally manages to pester Rong Chu into dual cultivating until he reaches Foundation Establishment, only for the Heavenly Dao to send him to the mortal realm to undergo tribulations? When the Ninth Heaven hears the news, the immortals weep with joy and spread it far and wide. At last, they’ve sent that walking disaster away. Theme: Cherish what you have. Don’t wait until it’s gone to regret it.
