1.
Ling Huaishu, the notorious great demon of the cultivation world. After suddenly rising from the dead, he arrives in a socialist new world four thousand years in the future.
Spiritual energy is scarce in the modern world, but demons and monsters run rampant.
At a banquet in a strange mountain village, Ling Huaishu, newly reborn and looking sickly, sits at the table. His pale face and peculiar clothes draw frequent stares.
"Who are you?!"
Ling Huaishu coughs weakly twice and smiles. "...As you can see, I'm a dying man."
Then, in front of everyone's eyes, this "dying man" blocks a heavenly lightning strike with one sword and, for good measure, levels the entire mountain.
Everyone: ...
It must be a ghost.
2.
Everyone at the Special Incident Investigation Division knows that their director has a notorious white moonlight.
Rumor has it that this person was once the best sword cultivator of his generation, famous from a young age. Then, for reasons no one could understand, he slaughtered his fellow disciples and betrayed his master. After falling into demonic ways, he even tried to devour the divine tower, only to end up reduced to ashes.
Director Jing Chu never shows his emotions, but the name of this demon is the one untouchable thing that can set him off.
Until one day, Jing Chu brings back a long-haired young man who looks frail and speaks with a strange accent.
The people at the Special Investigation Division then watch their noble, aloof director turn into this:
The young man is frail and sickly, so the director brings him tea and water and never leaves his side.
The young man makes cheeky advances, and the director keeps a straight face and doesn't respond, though the tips of his ears turn faintly red.
The most nerve-racking moment comes when the young man points at the portrait of the director's white moonlight in his office and complains, "This person is all dressed up like a peacock. He obviously isn't a good sort."
Everyone's hearts leap into their throats.
But Jing Chu only chuckles, his voice more indulgent than ever. "Mm. You're right about everything."
.
Jing Chu will always remember the boy who found him when he was badly wounded and had yet to take human form.
The boy was always so irreverent, pinching his fluffy fox ears and saying with a grin, "Good little fox, bark once and I'll give you meat."
Later, that person took his hand and drove the sword through his own chest. He coughed up blood, but was still smiling:
"Good little fox... don't be sad. I'll come back..."
Jing Chu held on to that promise, drifting through the human world and waiting for four thousand years.
At last, Ling Huaishu returns to him, whole and intact, the same carefree, unruly look in his eyes and at the corners of his mouth.
But Jing Chu realizes...
His master seems not to remember him.
[Cool and aloof, feigning propriety, purehearted white fox gong x flirtatious, irreverent, sickly demon shou]
-Reading Guide-
1. Younger gong, emphatic mutual devotion, one-on-one, happy ending.
2. Dual timelines, past and present, with lots of flashbacks.
3. A little supernatural content, but it's not horror. The side-story arc is short.
4. Fundamentally a xianxia novel, full of nonsense, with lots of original cultivation-world rules.
Theme: Live in the face of death
