[Blurb]
After five years in prison, Xu Yinan is released. Dressed plainly and looking worn-out and weary, he sits hunched in an unremarkable coffee shop. A passing office worker mistakes him for a cleaner taking a break and tries to kick him out.
His friend says, "You remember Cheng Xinghe, right? Ten years ago, you said he had the worst natural talent of anyone, and no matter how many more years he struggled in show business, he'd still be some obscure, no-name C-list nobody. You said he was born to play second fiddle."
Xu Yinan smiles faintly. "I still think so."
His friend says, "Now he's a bona fide top-tier star, famous across half the country."
Before leaving, his friend warns him to stay as far away from Cheng Xinghe as possible now that he's back. Cheng Xinghe is at the height of his fame, has powerful connections, and is hot-tempered and vindictive. He'll make Xu Yinan's life miserable for sure.
Xu Yinan smiles again. "Is that so?"
The coffee shop door flies open. Cheng Xinghe, dazzling on screen, rushes in with his clothes in disarray, somehow appearing in this little corner cafe. He glares furiously at Xu Yinan, sitting by the window.
Not a trace of his usual poise.
The friend assumes Cheng Xinghe heard Xu Yinan was out of prison and has come for revenge, and moves to break up the fight.
Xu Yinan calmly takes a sip of coffee, his gaze resting peacefully on the man's stunning face, still breathtaking even in the throes of rage.
He says only two things.
First: Long time no see.
Second: Come here, puppy.
The media catches wind of it and rushes over. They see a man who has always held his head high, never once bowed in more than a decade of struggling in show business, gritting his teeth, clenching his fists, trembling with rage, the corners of his eyes bloodshot.
A few seconds later, in full view of everyone, Cheng Xinghe deflates and lowers his eyes. "Woof."
Not a shred of dignity left.
Ace agent queen top × fiery celebrity wolf-dog bottom
Reading guide: A queen bottom's dog-training romance. Cheng Xinghe is a wolf out in public, but in private he's a dog his husband can't chase off or scold away.
This isn't dog-training fiction in the traditional sense, with one side lording it over the other. It's still a devoted couple, one-on-one and mutually in love. More details when it starts posting.
Theme: Hold fast to your ideals and beliefs.
